No. I do believe in demonic activity as a Christian, but I think dabbling into ghosts, sorcery, etc. is really dangerous and just not the kind of thing I want to focus on. "Whatsoever things are pure, what so ever things are lovely, what so things are of good report . . . think upon those things." While it is a wonderful age old bible scripture, I try to hold that as my standard and it certainly brings more peace than focusing on scarey things.

I know this post will bring many stories of old homes with supposed "presences" but just remember we control the presences in our lives by what we allow in our hearts and minds. By "taking our thoughts captive" we can live lives of peace and tranquility. Only satan wants us to believe otherwise.

Blessings and GOOD THOUGHTS!

No, I don't. I believe when you die, your soul/spirit instantly goes to either heaven or hell, and that's it for eternity. But I do appreciate/respect the fact that others do. I also am intrigued by the experiences they've had that support their belief.

I do believe in angels, though. Haven't had any personal experience, but I believe.

I wouldnt call them ghosts, spirits yes, as I believe we are, at base, spirit energy. Energy does not just go away when we are dead. This reality is not the only reality, IMHO, this plane is not the only plane. I have plenty of experience with "otherworldly" people. I do not believe in demons, though I believe some spirit energy is bad. I don't believe in demons because I do not believe in Satan or Hell...or Heaven for that matter.

I think that just because you ignore it or choose not to believe in it, doesn't mean it isn't there...

ETA:
I would also like to point out that ghost/spirit does not = bad, evil thoughts and the like.
My Grandfather was around until the day I married Rob. He stayed, I believe, to make sure Grace and I were safe at last. When we were, he left. Where he went, Summerland, back to Earth in another form, I am not sure, I just know that he has not been with me since I married Rob. he was not evil or bad yet he hung around...and made himself very known, even to complete strangers.
People ahve come to my home and experienced the little girl that lived here...who doe snot anymore. She got meddlesome and we asked her to leave. We cleansed the house and whatever was bad attached to her, left with her.
Grace has someone we know attached to her. He was a fmaily friend who died when Iwas pregnant with her. She is not the only one he has made himself known to, either.
I have a lot more than those, I just wanted to share them for the purpose of distinguishing between good and bad energies....ghost /= bad or evil.

I don't know. I have had some experiences that may have been "ghostly" presences but I don't know for sure. Though I do really enjoy that show ghost hunters.

When I was a little girl, my family lived in a very old (built in 1668) house in Mass. My brothers shared the room right next to mine. My bedroom had a staircase that led to a small hallway. One summer, my brother Donald kept complaining to my mother that I was up at all hours, walking up and down the stairs in my room. So, she would go check on me and I would be sound asleep. One day she sat at the top of the stairs and explained that things were a little hairy in our family (my little sister had a type of typhoid fever and was in the hospital for a month and nearly died) and that the stress of having to deal with whoever it was on the stairs was just too much. She asked her/him to please not bother us anymore, and it all stopped. Who knows? But I do believe that there are spirits who are close to us and that the veil between us and those who have gone on before us can be very thin at times.

Like Tasha I do believe in spirits or just say spirits of people gone on before us. I think there are spirits that may be here to show us the way if we chose to recognize them. We do have choices. I think we should be open and not so narrow in our thinking. MB

I'm interested too, Aunt George.

I believe in ghosts, as a Christian. I know that we continue on, and I believe in Heaven and Hell, but I also believe it's a lot more complicated than that. I don't know how, but I just don't think the universe/God is that simplistic. I think there can be demonic activity, but I also think sometimes ghosts are people who get "stuck" for lack of a better word. I also believe in animal spirits- I have personally experienced my cat's spirit hanging around- my mom did too- she said she didn't think our kitty had realized she'd passed on, so she gently told her she was gone and it was ok to leave, and we never felt her after that. And I stopped feeling her after my mom did that, but I didn't know the times coincided til later, when my mom told me.

And my daughter was concieved a few weeks after my grandmother died, and her due date was a few days after my gramma's birthday. I think my gramma is with dd sometimes, and I think I caught it on camera: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Persephone82/Picture_035.jpg I know orbs are common "paranormal" pictures taken, and that there are a lot of fakes, but from my research this one is likely to be real.

I wouldn't call it 'ghost' but there are times when I can sense my grandfather, Daddy Jack, near me. There are times when I can smell him and feel his touch. We was very close and I think he stays with me when he knows I'm missing him. If something bad is going on in my life is when I can sense him near me.

I'm a christian as well, but I am open minded to the possibility of the presence of spirits. I've talked to a number of people in the past that have had experiences with loved ones that have passed. I've never had a personal experience, so I'm not sure I can make a judgement either way. I don't watch movies or involve myself in anything that relates to evil spirits or demonic activity. I try not to let anything "dark" like that into my life. I'm also a nurse and witnessed the death of a terminal patient while in nursing school. I think the human spirit is amazing and there is so much we don't know or understand.

Blessings,

Missy

I'm a Christian also as is my former neighbor. Her family would see the ghost of a little boy in their home from time to time. The dog was always the first to sense his presense. The boy didn't cause any problems, but when she told people at church about him, they told her to cast it out because she shouldn't allow him to be there. She felt bad, but cast him out in the name of Jesus and he never returned. Don't know what that's all about, but you wanted stories. My daughter lived briefly in a home that had strange noises, doors slamming back and forth on their own, when they would leave the house at night, they would leave on one light, when they would come back, all the other lights were on and that one would be off...just creepy stuff like that...she did some research on the property and found that in the 1800's there was an insane asylum on the property where "experiments" were done on patients who then died...her kids would go into the woods in the backyard and come back with little crosses they would find...again, I don't know what that's all about, but I don't even pretend to understand everything out there...just keep it away from me! Oh yes, they left the house soon after they moved in, it was a rental...

This is a trick question for me. No, I would have told you, I do not believe in "ghosts." BUT, then...I lived in what I absolutely do believe was a "haunted house" for almost a year. I simply don't know. I have no answers, only questions. Maybe somebody else has some answers....

Well, I'm going to be the weird one of the group...not really unusual for me as I'm pretty well used to it now...

I was in Scotland and stayed at a hotel that Queen Vic visited. During one evening when I put on my nitegown, I reached up to slide it down over my head and my ring finger on my right hand 'hit' something in the air, above my head. I looked up thinking it was the fan but in those old rooms, the ceilings are way high. Nothing was there. I stayed up for quite a while, hunkered down under the covers, watching that corner and SWEAR I saw a bright blurry spot. That was the extent of that tho.

THEN when I lived in norther Arizona, our land was old Anazazi land and there was an indian village down by the swale from the 1200's or so. We found oodles of arrowheads and pottery and so forth. The University knew all about it and there were news stories about the areas. Our neighbors house actually sat over the old burial ground, a part of it.

Anywho, I was walking one evening and felt a presence over my left shoulder. I then walked into a cold spot and back out into the warm. Srtrange things had been happeneing all along, like lights and sounds from that area. So finally I just stopped and I swear I heard a voice say not to come to that area at nite any more. So I said back aloud (scaring myself worse) that I was'nt there to hurt anyone, just pick up firewood and I would only come thru during the day. Voila, no more lights or sounds. However, I've often wondered how an old indian would know english and good grammar to boot. I don't drink or do drugs either. Never have. But the whole valley was full of stories like that. I didn't believe them till things happened to us. I now believe.

AND I once 'saw' a chief ride by on a Paint horse, war bonnet and all. I called the family and we looked, not too closely tho but never found a thing. I 'saw' him just between the juniper trees. I might have been dreaming that one but others had seen him too. But that doesn't fit with the Anazazi either.

I don't have enuf time to tell you about all the lights in the skies that we saw, and yes, the neighbors saw them too.

I'm not sure why everyone is saying if they are Christian or not but I'm not. I think I'm an Agnostic or maybe just nothing. I grew up Christian but have seen too much to keep believing and now am actually very happy with my life, and at peace with the world.

Happy Trails :-)

As a Christian? The Holy Ghost, or Spirit, whichever you prefer.

As a story teller? Well...I've told some pretty convincing stories, and those who prefer to believe always fall for them...

Do my stories sound false?? I reread my post and yep, they do but if you read up on the area, you'll see what I mean. CNN even came out and did a story on the lost Hopi tribes. It's been about 7 or 8 years ago...maybe you can look it up. That was on a neighbors land where he found caves that went way the sam hill back into the mountain and came out on the other side. I don't believe things I can't see or touch but we did see this stuff. I have no explanation. I guess I'll just save them for my "and that ain't no ****!" file!!! Maybe I'll do a blog about that!! hehehe...

I have a story that I didn't have time to post earlier.

The Summer I had my daughter I was in our house holding her and looking out the window. I saw the sun was going down, so I walked out into the alfalfa field to watch it. I stood out there in the middle of the field by myself holding my newborn. Then I felt someone next to me with their arm around me, like they were watching the sunset with me. I could feel the side of their body against mine. Their shirt on my arm and everything. I new it was my Grandpa (he died 20 yrs earlier), even though I couldn't see him. He made me feel like he was always there watching out for me and then he was gone. I ran to the house and called my mom trying to tell her what just happened while crying.
OK, so I told the family my story and started replaying it in my head and wondering if I just "thought" that's what happened. Of course everyone thought I was crazy, mostly my brother. Well the next summer on my moms 56th birthday the same age my Grandpa died at, my brother was driving a semi on his new job. He looks over in the passenger seat and there's my Grandpa smiling at him. He didn't say a word and neither did my brother. My brother just kept driving with tears rolling down his cheeks. He said my Grandpa was wearing brown clothes and his brown leather boots he always had on with a tooth pick in his mouth like he always had. He rode with my brother a couple miles and made him feel like he was proud of him, then dissappeared. My brother pulled over and called my mom crying. Later my Grandma said that he was buried in brown clothes.
I'm also Christian and I just heard the bible answer man say that if you are, the Lord dwells in your body, because it's Gods temple and evil spirits can not come in. So you can not be posessed. And I don't believe my Grandpa is a ghost I think he is a spirit. I just titled it that to get your attention. I have seen a little girl ghost at my friends house when we were in high school. I saw her once with my friend and once when she was peeking around the corner at me. That scared me though and I wouldn't go over there anymore.

There is so much in this world that is undiscovered, unexplained, and unexplored. I believe it is entirely possible that there are "ghosts"-however you choose to define that word. I am a scientist (I teach science now). If there is one thing I know it is that science is an ongoing search for answers and explanations. We sure don't know everything!

I definately believe in spirits, and just like us, some are good and some aren't so good.

My sister has a "friend" in her house, I think his name is Dean, he isn't really bad, but he does mischief type stuff. Like opening the stereo cabinet...I told her to just tell him it's ok, go on....

I have some stories, I think I will share them on Aunt George's site....

Wow Georgann...That is an amazing experience. I wonder what the meaning of you having the dream was. To free that spirit maybe? I believe that our dreams all have meanings. I look forward to reading more when you have time to post them.
