just isn't for them? I was really excited at first, but then we moved & didn't have internet for months. Last semester it was hard to find time to be on the internet and when I was, I really wanted interaction with others -- so this site and my email was about all I did. Now, I'm trying to get more freelance work, so it seemed like if I was going to spend time writing it should be on an article or essay, something that was potential income. Plus, I love all the "farmgirl blogs", with pictures and everything, and with dial-up, every time I did try to post a picture, and sometimes even when I was just writing an entry, I'd time-out and lose everything that I'd written, so I finally gave up.

Am I the only blog drop-out here? I sure do enjoy reading everyone else's, though.

If you can take your pics and make them smaller in file size, they upload faster. I reduce mine in size to about 4x5 inches using Print Shop Pro.

I have learned that I like to blog for myself. I don't write for others to see it, just for me to read on my windows XP journal or in the documents section of the control panel. I had a blog but somehow it wasn't for me. I guess after I die my kids will take my writings and do whatever with them. I may try it again sometime but once I write something, I don't seem to have the energy to rewrite it on a blog.

So, you're not the only one out there!!

Happy Trails :-)

I just found out that if you change the setting on your camera to e-mail size the pictures upload in only 1 minute instead of 20. Because the camera will default the pic size to the largest which on my camera is 2816x2112 and after changing the setting it now is 640x480. I still have dial-up also. I was so stoked to figure out the upload time. Its all in the camera. good luck. MB

I downloaded Picasa which is a Google company...It does so much for you it makes it easy. But then I Don't have dial up so it is maybe easier for me.

Oh, yeah...if I had dial up I'd give up! Reducing helps, but it's nothing like dsl or cable. But yeah, you could still journal for yourself and friends; kinda like those newsletter Christmas cards! You could post a link instead of the actual picture if you wanted to add something to it for the sake of recording.

I have 3 blogs all of which I never seem to be able to keep up. For now I've stopped blogging but am sure after I move and have more peace in my life I'll start again. I will say that I LOVE to read the other Farmgirl's blogs. It makes me feel so connected with their lives. So I may not be blogging right now but I'm reading!

I started blogging a couple of months ago and am enjoying it a lot. When the greenhouse starts and the growing season arrives I probably won't write as much.

I just started to blog and it went from 1 to 3 rather quickly. I have figured out that I too, write a lot for myself, but enjoy sharing what is going on in our lives with friends and family. I admit it, I love the whole blog thing.

Winona, you don't have to write and then rewrite it all over again in the blog. I write all of my posts in a Word document and then copy and paste it into the blog post. It is much easier to do it this way (although I still make goofs when I'm writing late at night). So, maybe you could rethink it that way and then your friends can read it now and your kids still have it later.
