Grace, that is really weird for sure! Let us know what happened. I hope all your veggies could be covered enough to stay safe.

Well as it turns out,, it only got down to 41,, thank goodness, because we are on the West Plains and not the foot hills or high elevation,, our gardens were spared... I hate when the TV weather dudes and dudettes give us an unnecessary scare!!!!
I still have lots of tomatoes, and a few bell peppers and cucumbers to pick,, as for the Huckleberries,, lots of them, but they are not ready to be picked yet.
My sunflowers are going to seed,, so I'll cut them when they are ready,, let dry and extract the seeds for the winter birds.
Gotta luv a green thumb...

Oh goodness Grace! I’m so glad you didn’t end up getting a freeze. Hopefully your garden is all finished before the first freeze moves in.

Well I did some sluething and noticed 2 of my small, hidden pumpkins bit the dust! thanks to the cold (mid 40'degrees) nights.. also my cucumbers are slowing down... but... the tomatoes are still going gang busters.. I have about 2 dozen regular sized tomatoes and about a Gazillion cherry maters... why am I not surprised! Cherry tomatoes are like radishes,, they grow like weeds and require no fussing with...

Lucky that your tomatoes did OK with the colder night. I have to say that cherry tomatoes and tomatoes can be difficult to grow here in Florida. Every bug and caterpillar love them and our growing season in the Summer is way too hot for them to survive. They attract lots of pests down here in the Swamp! I have tried several ways to grow them here at my house and barely get any that the pests don't get to overnight. I felt our gave up!! LOL!!
