Connie Sue, that tea was very good I was in my bedroom watching a movie (hubby was watching golf in the living room) I was snuggled under my down comforter, drinking the tea and watching TV it was a very cold gloomy day, and the Tea just made everything nice and comforting.

That little farmgirl is one of my favorites. Actually, it could have been me.
We had about 150 laying hens and my little sister and I had to go gather eggs . . . with a basket like that one. I even went in the chicken house barefooted once in a while (had to step very carefully).
I would probably have been wearing a dress and had my hair fixed like that.
So, yup . . . that would have been me.

Yes, I lived in Colorado as a child. We had a 240 acre farm, and my dad deeded my hubby and me 3 acres to build our own house on, which is where we live now. We no longer own the farm, as we sold it in parcels after my parents passed away (my five siblings and me). But I can still look out my window at the property, the farmhouse I grew up in (about 1/2 mile down the road) the orchards, hayfield, etc.
Yes, we sold the eggs. My mom and my sister and I would go into the cellar and candle, size and box the eggs (in cartons). My mom had two routes per week in town, she drove the car and my sister and I delivered the eggs. No we did not like doing the delivering, but we did it anyway.
My dad would order baby chicks (mixed sex) every spring, put them in the brooder house under lights and fight off skunks. When they were big enough he would separate the pullets (females) from the "fryers" (roosters/males). And then eventually the pullets went in the henhouse with the other laying hens and we would butcher the "fryers". What a job that was. My sister and I had to pluck them . . . I can still smell the wet feathers! UGH!
Yep, I grew up on a very busy farm and we worked!
