Hi everyone, we are getting closer to our annual Apple Festival here at MJF! I am offering a giveaway to have some fun. All I need you to do is leave me a post of something about apples. It could be your favorite varieties , apple trees on your property, apple picking experiences, or anything else that you can share about apple fun. It could also be a book you found and enjoyed on apples.
Lets share what we know and enjoy on this topic and help kick off this upcoming Annual Apple Festival.
Sign ups go through August 29 and I will select a winner on August 30th.

So we have this large tall apple tree in the back that we see from our deck just a Beautiful Apple Tree. The branches are so heavy with apples that one of the large branches had crack but did not fall to the ground. The problem is all the apples are in the top of the tree. When we get winds which sometimes is daily some will be blown to the ground. But never those pretty red ones at the top of the tree. We have tried everything to get them down, extension ladder, bringing our truck to the back by the tree and fashioned a long, long stick with hook to shake them down from the bed of the truck . So what next we wondered without having to call someone out and pay them to get the apples from the top for us. I would even share. So my guys will think on it some more until the next wind comes or another branch cracks from so many apples on it. I seriously believe this is what the guys are hoping for. And that’s life at the Fischer Place!

I love having apple trees. We had one in NJ and we have one here. The one in jersey was loaded with blossoms and always had lots of apples but they never grew very big. The tree we have here has very few blossoms but the apples are bigger. Not huge but big enough to get some apples and make apple sauce or apple butter. We love to go picking at the farms here. Nothing like picking them fresh from the tree! I love all varieties and enjoy trying new ones I've never had.

We have two apple trees on our property. One is a Granny Smith and one is a honey crisp. We have a huge crop to pick from both trees. The honey crisp is ready now!!! I love having these and our other fruit trees on our property!! :) All of them are beautiful during the spring when they are loaded with blossoms!

My parents have several apple trees on their land in western Wisconsin. I'm not sure what type they are, but they produce lots of apples. After dumping a load of apples on their compost, to the delight of local deer, they bought an apple press to make juice. Now they contact the nearby Amish family to gather the apples and in return they get a delicious apple pie.

I don't have an apple or apple tree story to share but I am a fan of all vintage linens and kitchen decor with apples on them. Several years ago, Linda "quiltee" gifted me an apron made from a vintage tablecloth with apples on it.

Thank-you everyone with your stories about apples. They are wonderful to hear and lean a new piece of information of each person. Vanessa, I think that your parents have a great deal going with giving the Amish the apples for an apple pie in return. YUM!!

This will be my first year getting an apple from my own apple tree! We planted the tree last year, so I was very excited to see it have apples this year. The tree only has 3 remaining apples. The rest have fallen off on their own or in our bad wind. But 3 is better then none. And they are looking like a decent size too.
