I'm starting a new thread.
We can share what we are baking, sewing, planting, or prepping.
Autumn begins the 22nd. The month of August flew by and although I prepped something for freezer/pantry almost daily, I feel there is much more to do.
I don't sew or knit. but a warm yummy knitted sweater would be a need for winter.
I am planting Autumn crops-broccoli, kale, brussels sprouts, pole beans, sugar snaps and carrots.
I am waiting for a very GOOD sale on winter squash(pests took out my plants)
I need more soil for raised beds and straw to keep them warm.
What are you doing to get ready for next season?

Today's good mood brought to you by a lot of coffee!!!

Like you, Tara, I like to get things ready for the next season.

Ordered & delivered from Amazon - potting soil & peat moss for raised beds & containers.

Ordered from Eden Bros - bulbs to be delivered in Oct and elephant ear bulbs to be delivered next spring.

Also veg & herb seeds from Eden Bros - 2 pkgs of red onion seeds - I will sow one pkg in raised bed before 1st frost to see how it does - the other pkg I will sow in early spring. Herb seeds will be started indoors in early spring or sown outdoors.

Forgot to add. Fall is a good time to take stock of all canning & freezing supplies and buy what is needed for next season.

Tara, I use leaves to cover my raised beds and containers, I don't have much sunlight, but I do have leaves.

August was horrible and I lost all zinnias, lemon grass, and lemon thyme. Don't know if the gladiolas will come back next year. All herbs on deck survived August.

Right now my main focus it to continue collecting things from the garden and either canning or freezing it to have for the winter or next year. My biggest things right now are beets, carrots, peppers, tomatoes and zucchini. I bounce between each of them depending on which one has more ready to be preserved. Then as each plant finishes for the season I will begin prepping the ground for winter and next season.
