Just read an article about this group. I’ve signed up for their Zoom introductory session. You bake a couple of bread loaves twice a month(or whatever you can do), deliver them to a nearby hub. That person is teamed up with a local food bank which delivers that day. They have 3 recipes to choose from. You can also bakes some energy cookies too. They provide the “goodies” that go into those.
I’m intrigued and am anxious to find out details. Does anyone know about this?

Does anyone know the stand mixer named Ankarsrum? Any experience with it? Know one for sale?

I've never heard of it, it''s not a program in my area, but it sounds interesting.

I've never heard of a Ankarsrum mixer, but then again, I am still using a mixer from the 20's LOL.

I will have to look into the bread and cookie program... I am not sure we have anything like that in my area, but sounds interesting.

Just look up CommunityLoaves.org
there are quite a few "hubs" across the country. It started here in Seattle. Our food banks are screaming for help. They've been so excited about getting fresh bread.
I am getting a Bosch mixer. It can do 4-6 whole wheat loaves easily. I killed my Kitchenaid doing a loaf of sourdough and one whole wheat loaf. I have learned that you put the liquids in first, then slowly add the flour on low speed.
I'm old and still learning lots....

Sylvia, thank you for alerting us to this! I forwarded your info to various different people when I first saw it and one of them (our very own Abigail who helps with Merit Badge approvals) is signed up for Community Loaves virtual class (in a couple of weeks). She is hoping to share her loaves in Pullman, Washington (she works at WSU). I taught her how to make Wild Bread, probably two years ago, and lucky me, I end up with bread frequently because she bakes bread every day (I am not kidding). I also think it's her love language:)

Wow! What a great person to join in. I just set up my baking schedule thru Thanksgiving. They are asking us to turn the bread recipes to rolls. The white whole wheat bread is so delicious that I’m doing that recipe. Love, love, love the Bosch mixer. What a help it is! Does the sourdough like it’s butter! We’re also doing some holiday cookies next month. They are providing packaging labels. Having fun feeding people…
