We recently visited some family friends who have a pet snake. Bexten was very interested in the snake and kept asking to hold it. This little guy of mine is very brave and really enjoyed his experience. We have noticed he has no fear of anything. That is why I call him my feral child. Now he wants his own snake, but that is a no go for my house lol!

I'll stick with the furry animals!

My Husband and I were teachers for many years. We owned snakes and found them to be very interesting and basically very docile. Our sons also loved them. They decided to raise rats to feed them, which of course never happened. They couldn't feed their friends to their snake friends. They did, however, sell them to a local pet shop. They were very happy with the arrangement with the pet shop because they got more money for the gray rat babies. . .and their rats seemed to produce lots of gray ones!

Grace, my middle son wants one of those or a turtle. They are both much better options than a snake! I tried telling him we could start with something easier like a fish, but he decided a hermit crab would be funner! This kid will own a zoo when he grows up.
Nancy, that is a neat story. Growing up I had dwarf hamsters. My mom only wanted 2 boys, but ended up with a male and a female. We ended up with tons of babies we sold back to the store as well!
