Darlene your flags look pretty in your front window!
I read some posts this morning. One from a guy, who must be a city dweller, he had driven his neighborhood and counted 90 flags. I thought he must live in a big neighborhood or have people like us who put out "several!"

Today was a day to celebrate..because we had sunshine!!!
We could all celebrate, because autumn seems determined to come on in...at least it is here in Texas! We had the 7 and 1/2 inches of rain, the full corn moon, and it looks like we will be having a norther next week. If the weather guys have it right we will have day time temps in the low 70s and night time temps in the low 50s. Wow! After day time temps over 100 every day with high humidity and with night time temps in the 80s it was pretty miserable here for the month of August.
A young woman in South eastern Wyoming, said she wished out loud for cooler weather. They had been so hot and sweaty the day before. She said she had to wear a coat the next day. Very unexpected!
So put up your autumn decorations, get out your autumn sweaters etc and make a cup of hot coffee, tea, hot chocolate or cider sit and have some peace and quiet.
God bless us all!

Today was more clean up, more laundry, but I was tired...so no road trips to look for a freezer. Had came to visit his morning...she always entertains us...makes us laugh! I love her!

It's still too hot here to get out the sweaters but when my granddaughter comes over she's been enjoying hot cocoa while putting together puzzles.
Won't need to change out to warmer clothes until the beginning of October here.

I'm glad your getting cooler weather Marilyn. Enjoy!

Last night about nine I thought I heard big booms. When my hubby went to let the dogs out I asked if he heard booms too. He said he did hear them...and he guessed they were having the big Fire Works Show at the city park. It lasted for over an hour. He said that if he remembered correctly, they were using the fireworks from the fourth of July that they had never been allowed to set off due to the fake pandemic!
Then once again this morning the dove hunters were booming again.I
So we are having a noisier than usual Labor Day holiday weekend.
Brings back memories of those years when my husband was determined to make me a hunter of dove and deer!

Marilyn, congratulations on the great grandbaby!!! Very exciting1
I have had issues with ordering from Keepsake Quilting, too. It seems that everything that I need it backordered. I'm glad that you still liked what you had ordered!
Your dove hunting comment made me think of when my daughter was little, 2 or 3. My husband would take her out with him to go dove hunting in the morning and evening. He would clean any birds that he got and made them into "dove nuggets" for the kids for dinner. They loved them! Also, to play a trick on me, he would give Katie the dove heart to hold in her hand as a "surprise" for me..she would just laugh and laugh when I squealed to get it outside! One day the kids and I were headed over the mountain to my mom's house and Katie had been out hunting that morning. I had her change her clothes before we went to grandma's. The jeans weren't dirty and I folded them and put them back in her drawer. She kept saying, "Mom! Mom! Wait! There's a dove heart in my pocket!" Ugh....I didn't believe her but I pulled them out of the drawer and there it was! Thank goodness she told me! That would have stunk to high heaven by the time we got back a few days later!

Way back when we moved from the city to the country there came a day in November when the kids and I were awakened to gunshots -- many of them. It sounded like a war had started. This was 1970 and Vietnam was on everyone's minds. I gathered the kids into an interior closet and we huddled there until my husband came home from work; he was a shift worker and came home around noon or so. He about died laughing when he found us in the closet. It was the opening day of pheasant season.

Debbie, I had a similar experience. 1974 we moved to the boonies! 20 miles to town. My husband was many miles away building a house for a family.
Night time came...it was so dark. The north wind began to blow. A door on a shed began to pop...over and over!!! Sbout the same time the Indian War Party came closer! I was trembling...because I was so scared! My child who was 12 years old kept asking who was out side. I was 32, had not lived in the country since I was four and did not have an answer for him. We had no telephone. So I suggested we get our clothes, etc. for the next day and run to the car, drive to town and sleep at my mother in laws home. The next day when we described what we had heard...they told us it was probably coyotes, like mommas with their hungry pups.
I can laugh about it now...but every time I hear a war party nearby...I am reminded of that night.

That's a great story, Marilyn. And, yes, coyotes do sound like an Indian war party. I had coyotes around the farmhouse.
