My husband - then and now - 52 years apart. He was stationed at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, NM, during the Vietnam War.

He says his uniform shrank in the closet.

I just heard about a program tonight on the aRFD channel called Veterans History Project. They are supposed to have something like 70,000? recorded stories from Veterans? Might be interesting!

My uncle Robert was a radioman on a ship and was on duty when the "War has Ended" message came over the air waves.

My thanks to Ed for his life of service, as a military man, then as a nurse.

My daddy was one of those young men who rushed down the morning of Dec. 8, to join up. He had been married one year. He was 31. After his basic training at Ft. Knox,Kentucky he was sent to Calif.this was before I was born. I never knew, until a few years ago, he was in the navy.

Without the farmers we would sure be hungry. They deserve a whole month at least.

Thankful for our farmers. It is a hard job and so often we take them for granted.

Warren's Dad served in the Navy for his entire career and was sent to fight in the Pacific during WWII. We have had a Navy since the Revolution and possibly before. I need to look that one up.

JT went in 3 days after he graduated high school and when our son was 10 months old he decided he had missed every thing with the girls and didn't want to miss out any more. He was on nuclear subs and destroyer tenders. He was supposed to be 3 and 2. 3 yrs sea duty, 2 yrs shore duty. He never had shore duty the whole time he was in so that was another reason he left.

Oh this is cute!! My oldest daughter had a black kitty she named Petie . She was originally a stray on her property but Kelley could tell she was used to being inside the house when weather was bad.
