Was checking out the farmer's almanac this morning. Looks like we are in for another rainy winter again this year. Seems we've had quite a lot of rain since fall of 2019. Everything is green. I'm disappointed we won't have snow.
Another reason I'd like to leave Jersey. I like 4 distinct seasons.

A gorgeous, cloudy windy day! The wind is actually warm ... sitting outside catching up on henhouse news while being blown away! lol

Oops! Time to come in ... the wind is blowing the foam off my latte ... that's the best part! lol

We are in for rain the next couple days. We will be heading north to see family. Looks like they are getting cooler temps than we are at least.

A brisk 30 this morning. Good thing I had all the important stuff covered in the garden. It is supposed to warm back up now to the 70's.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

I went to put the trash out this morning and the dark sky had a red color to it. Lots of smoke in the air.
That was eerie!

Have a good day!

That's our sky too. I have three air cleaners running 24/7. Our August sunsets are usually colorful but this is ridiculous. There are little piles of ashes in the bed of the truck. Stay inside and keep your pets inside, too.

Now it looks like fire behind the trees, it is getting dark so it shows more orange.
We need some breeze from the ocean.
I don't like it.

Keep safe.

We are getting drenched with rain since last night. Wish we could send it west. We are under flash flood watches. Times like this I'm glad we live up on a hill.

Darlene, are the fires near you under control? Have you heard why the sky was so orange? God bless you, and keep you safe.

Marilyn -- I'm not Darlene but here is the reason for the orange color in our smokey skies:

"The smoke particles are scattering blue light and only allowing yellow-orange-red light to reach the surface, according to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. The smoke, therefore, makes the skies look orange and much darker than usual.
Air District meteorologist Jarrett Claiborne explained that: "Visible light or sunlight is a combination of all the colors of the rainbow, from red to violet, and when we have particles in the air they can act as filters and can scatter certain colors out.

In case you didn't see it on tv this is what it looked like:

It is pouring buckets here and has for the last hour and a half. I wish we could pipe it to those horrible fires.

Thanks, Judith. Are there fires close to you?
When I was nine our home burned to the ground. Thankfully we were on a fishing trip and not at home. It was such a shock to our mother...she cried for days.

Thank you Judith, that was very interesting. Like I said since I have moved here in 1974, I have never seen the sky that color and all the way down to the bay area.

Denise -- I wish you could send us some of that rain too. It seems like one half of the country has floods while the other half has droughts. If they can build pipelines for oil and gas you would think they could build one for water.

Marilyn -- At one point the fire was about 40 miles away but there was a river between us and it. Whenever we come home from a trip I always wonder when we turn that last corner if I'm going to see a pile of scorched ruins.

I've lived here for 78 years and never saw the sky that color before. Don't want to see it again either but probably will the way things are going.

Judith,my parents were living in the LA area when they got pregnant with me. Daddy was in the navy. In July before my Sept. Arrival date...the doctor told them that if
They wanted a baby Texan, they had to go! So they boarded a train with a sleeping car and came home. Finally on October 7th, God decided it was time!
When I was 13 we rode on a train to LA to visit my mother's three sisters and their
Families. I remember the mild Temps, the beautiful flowers and the traffic. I've never been back. Not that I didn't want to visit... But I was busy!
