Judith and Darlene, the photos of your orange sky is eerie to say the least! How frightening to see this phenomenon because the reason for it means widespread devastation if happening. Praying for some weather changes to stop the spread of the fires and cool down the scorched earth.

I believe our weather changes are happening here. We are finally having steady temperatures in the low to mid 70s. This morning we are at 50 degrees with a real feel of 46. Yay! When we were in NY it was in the 40s for lows with high temps in the mid to upper 60s. Loved every minute of that and now I hope we will soon be there too. We shall see.
I do hope and pray there will be lots of rainfall on the west coast to put these fires out. More and more people are evacuating.

It is supposed to be a high of 65 today. I took the opportunity to change out my spring/summer to fall/ winter clothing. However, I didn't do everything because we are still getting in to the upper 70's by the end of the week.

91 today but it has been in the fifties at night which makes for better sleeping. We still can't open the windows at night but there is less smoke in the air now.

It is grey outside here, clouds and maybe smoke out there. High clouds though and cool this morning.

Hoping it clears on.

Have a good day and stay safe!

So glad your skies are clearing Judith. I hope things stay that way. Do they have all the fires out now?

We have 54 right now. It looks like October is going to come in on 60s. I love that. Might have to start the woodstove in the mornings then....maybe.

We having rains all day today. Mid 70s. Looking forward to October's bright blue skies. We usually get a lot of rain in November and we the northeast gets snow. The Farmer's Almanac said we are in for a rainy winter so we shall see. We had a rainy winter last year too. Wish the west coast could get some of this rain.

We had pouring rains yesterday and all through the night. Today is supposed to be sunny with the high of 69. Going to enjoy some time outside in the sunshine if I can. There's always lots to do. Since this is the last day of September, I am hoping it is a good sign of weather for October. Looking forward to October's bright blue skies.

It was a cool 41 degrees this morning. We are supposed to have high winds today-45 to 50 mph, fortunately our yard is surrounded by trees and we don't feel it. So the garden is getting cleaned out. We start soybean harvest tomorrow and have a hard freeze predicted for Saturday night so need it done before than. I will miss my garden and all the wonderful bounty it gave us.

Julie,
When you harvest soybean are they green or brown? We have so many farms here that plant soybean and some look like they are turning brown colored but some are still green.

Our weather here has been strange because of the smoke and fires in different areas. Saturday it was somewhat orange out and when I went to the store the air was still and hot, that isn't normal for here, There was no humidity in the air, Just weird!
Today is grey brown and fog Weather and smokey. Not pretty.

Well have a good day all!

Another cool day here. 41 this morning, we haven't turned the heat on yet in the house so I was happy to light the fireplace and enjoy my coffee in front of it. Denise, soybeans won't go through the combine very well if they are green. We harvest when they are brown and hopefully at 13.5% moisture. If they are above 15% they need to be dried in our grain dryer.

Sounds like a gorgeous day in your neck of the woods Julie. Thanks for answering my questions on the soybeans. Inquiring minds like to know. We live all around farms here but all we have are tons of trees on the property. So no doing much but a garden.

Woke to 44 degrees today. Our high temp is 65. We might have to turn on the heat for a bit this morning to take off the chill. As for myself, I'm going to grab a hot cup of tea and head for the porch.

We are having rain move in from the Gulf but so far the temps are nice and cool and we have not actually gotten any rain to speak of. It has me thinking about baking something yummy this afternoon.
