Oh Halloween Hot Chocolate with Peeps sounds so yummy. I will have to try it.
I do not miss the snow at all after living 23 years in Colorado. But I did think it was cool last year when we had a few snow flurries here for about a minute!

Big Hugs,

We're supposed to be back up to 70 for this weekend. I wonder if your weekend snow will get here some time later in the week LOL! My mother in law said we're supposed to have a lot of snow this winter. We'll see :)

It turns out I'm not quite as ready for the snow as I thought LOL! We had some flurries mixed in with the rain this afternoon - nothing accumulated - but the wind was crazy and it was COLD!!! We have some more in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow - another monster hot chocolate for me :)

Stay warm, Heather!! Currently I’m calling it a win that we haven’t had to have the a/c on for three days now. Heat for a bit in the am and then windows open all day. :) Rumor has it our winter weather will be colder and wetter than normal.

I've been hearing that for a lot of places. We warmed up today. Supposed to hit the mid 70's this weekend!

Cookies and Cream - I call her cookie monster (her mama's name was milkshake) had a baby boy this morning. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the pictures uploaded. They look a lot alike an act a lot alike - stubborn!

Heather, once when I had 25 bottle babies, at one time...after struggling to get them all fed...
I decided that calves
(just like children) do not all arrive super intlligent...in fact I had one who appeared to be retarded! I determined this by the way he curled his tongue and rolled it all around the nipple while never getting any milk. So rather than watch him die, I put some milk in a pail
And put my fingers in the pail under the milk. When my fingers appeared dripping with milk...suddenly, curiosity took over. He finally got some food. Of course, we had to play this game several times before I felt confident that he would be able to get enough to thrive. So when the second wave of babies hit, I quickly
Taught them all to drink from a bucket, as did every newborn after that. And you know what...they all caught on so much quicker than the sad little guy.

I had a similar situation a few year ago Marilyn! Come to find out it's actually a mineral deficiency and it affects bull calves at a much higher rate than the heifers. I can't remember if it's magnesium or potassium though. We have high iron levels in our water and the mineral we were using at the time was colored red with iron oxide. It pushed the iron level too high in the cows diet and tied up the other minerals. We had a couple bull calves like yours before we got it all figured out. We switched mineral companies and have not had any more problems!

Here's cookie monster's baby boy. He's such a happy little fellow! He's next to our jersey calf. Jersey's are much smaller than the holsteins but this little guy makes her look BIG LOL!

Friday night Veronica had a baby girl. She's a wonderful mama cow - this is only her second baby:

We don't usually name the bull calves since we don't keep them very long but I've been calling him Hal LOL!

Well, I took about 100 pictures yesterday LOL! It SNOWED!!!!! I was so excited. We had about an inch or so on the ground. It's pretty much all gone now but there's still a few tiny flurries falling. We also had a calf born about 4am this morning. I thought it was going to be a bull calf - Raven was due the 6th. But nope! A big beautiful girl that looks just like her mama :) I'll post some pictures as soon as I get them on the computer. For now I need to get back to knitting Christmas gifts.

Sounds wonderful! I could use some help so I can get everything done right now LOL!

Here's the new baby that's a mini version of her mama:

She has a little more white on her but she has the same ornery twinkle in her eye LOL!
