Here we are are in the 6th month of this year already! The only holiday in June besides Father's day is Flag day. I love the patriotic holidays!
I can leave my flags up from Memorial day to Labor day.

I have all my americana decorating the basement living room. A I have project in the hoop that I have been slowly working on so it is not cinished but this time of year prompts me to get it out. Oh well someday it will be finished.

Any plans for June?

Aren't you a day early? Lol!!

I would like to clean up my sewing room so that I can use the cutting table to make a set of curtains for the dining room. I've had the curtain fabric for almost 2 years and got white single sheets for the backing. These curtains will be for the door/window leading to the patio. I need to iron the sheets and then measure and cut the fabric and lining. Not a hard project - just large and awkward. Hmmmmm - how to do it easier?

Denise, I love Americana decorating as well and have things placed here and there from Memorial day through July 4th. I am starting a new book on Thomas Jefferson which I hope will give me more insight into one of the Founding Fathers who created all the basic documents of our Nation.

June is a lovely month with the Summer Solstice brings long evenings , graduations, weddings, and summer vacations. There is also the arrival of great watermelons, Blueberries, Blackberries and fresh corn on the cob and other garden veggies. We enjoyed our fist watermelon of the season over the weekend and it was sweet and delicious. Love those bright red slices on a plate to grab and enjoy!

Linda -- I used sheets for curtains in our living room. Looks great, washable, and last forever. To make that job easier I suggest some music (whatever gets you going) and beverage of your choice. It'll be done in no time.

I have mixed feelings about June -- there's the good part, like my youngest grandson is graduating from high school tomorrow and I like it staying light longer. Then there's the bad part -- the heat and our electric rates go up alarmingly on the first so I'm doing all the laundry I can today. Tomorrow the daytime rates go up and all summer I'll be doing laundry after midnight.

Oh lol! Linda you are correct I am a day early. I always think of Memorial day as being the 31st of May for some reason instead of the last Monday. I don't have any idea why!

Winnie, I was listening to a broadcast yesterday on the Founding Fathers. Very interesting!

Judith, I always dread when the rates change to summer. Except the gas bill goes down. But the electric goes up.

Judith, many years ago our electric provider offered budget billing. I took them up on their offer. You should call and ask if your provider offers some relief for senior citizens
Our son asked a few months ago if I thought we would need any help paying our bill. His home is so well insulated...they don't have much of a bill nowadays. His barn bill is the problem. Thirsty animals means the well runs a lot.

Denise, June is my most expensive month.
Two birthdays. Two anniversaries and three fathers for fathers day!
I know that others may only honor their very own parents for mothers and fathers days...not me. Every mother is honored, and every father also.

Darlene, my son in law is the 4th of July. His brother was 2 years later on the 2nd. They always celebrated together.

Denise -- I think way back when, Memorial Day was on the 31st. Then they combined Lincoln and Washington's birthdays to one and gave us three-day weekends which included Memorial Day being the last Monday in May. No sure; I'll have to research it.

Marilyn -- There are lower electric bills for lower incomes. I don't qualify, although with the prices in California being so high ($7 a gallon for diesel!), they should include anyone who makes less than a million dollars a year on their sliding scale.

I'm using the aheeta for the lining of the curtains. The fronts are a tropical? print upholstery-type fabric.

Yesterday I finished my bargello flag. I can send anyone the pattern if you want it.

Marilyn,
There is a time difference between here and what is posted on the forum. So it was around 5:30 here when I was on earlier. That is the normal time for me to wake usually.

Thanks, all. I'd never done bargello before. It was pretty easy the way she had us do it.

We don't have any birthdays this month but we do have an anniversary. Marilyn and her husband are celebrating their 60th I believe it is, on June 30th.
So Happy Anniversary Marilyn and Robert!

Thank you. One person added background strips to the ends and made it into a pillow for her porch.

I wish I could put something on our porch or on the front patio but both are exposed and nothing is safe from the weather there - sun or rain.

We have a small overhang on our porch but it does stay pretty dry and shaded unless the wind is blowing when it is raining. Right now I have a small bench out there but I'd like to put a couple of small rockers out there instead.

I have a couple rockers I bought years ago at an antique mall. Comfortable! They are in one of the back covered patio areas.
