We seem to be easing into our cooler times of year. Woke to a lovely 58 degrees here this morning. Children are back in school and there's seems to be that routine falling back into place. I expect we will still have some quite warm days but I enjoy the mornings best when it is calm and quiet.
I hope you ladies down south start cooling down some. I love September but the closer we get the closer it is to the time she will return home. We have really enjoyed her visit. There has been a big change in the last 2 years. She has grown up and has her own ways, ideas and plans.
So good to spend time with her. Will miss her but look forward to a visit with the rest of her family. |

We wish Fall would arrive here, too - the sooner the better.
School started here last week, and already there has been security problems. Several districts are requiring ONLY clear backpacks (not ours, yet) and at one school in another district a gun was found in one.
Yesterday, a mile from the high school here, a 17-YO student was fatally shot on his way to school. There were some home security cameras who caught the incident and they caught the shooter almost immediately. The shooter was the 16-YO cousin of the deceased, and they have since learned that the two families have not gotten along with each other for a long time; they each had police reports against the other family. The school was not locked down completely, but all the classroom doors were locked until he was caught. One of the students I know told her mother that today getting into school was very difficult and took a long time; there were police from several comunities at the school and every back pack, purse, and other container was checked and the student had to go through metal detectors. |

| Wow, LInda, that shooting was a terrible event! NO wonder schools are on high alert to someone else sneaking in a gun to the campus. |

our last week of August was cooler! Most of my flowers are hanging on still! except the Zinnias are gone. Waiting on the fall Mums to come in.

| Connie, your flowers look beautiful! I saw my first Mums today in the grocery store. It is way to hot to put them out down here so that will have to wait until more towards the very end of September. I love mums!! |
