piddlin sweetie Posted - Jun 27 2010 : 8:45:23 PM
I (you can too) will look at some places we could meet up for our first gathernin..throw out some places at ya'll and will pick a date.. then we can make plans to visit each other. Does that sound okay??

maybe like this?? http://www.boydorchards.com/

I'm game for a meet. It could be small and short. Like I said before, I don't mind driving. But, I also don't mind hosting. I don't have much to look at here in the city, but if it means getting to meet some of you then I will spiffy up the yard and get some goodies made!

I'm achin' for some farmgirl company!

Safe travels to Canada Shirley, I know what it is like to have a child live so far away....my second born lives in LA.
I am still interested in trying to get a group together; living in E town I am used to driving an hour to get just about anywhere. How about the rest of you ladies? Is it too late? Perhaps the summer weekend have already filled....

Hi ... seems we have all been busy.. here's the thing..I am planning a trip to Canada for July to see my son who I miss desperately. If you gals want to get together ... go for it... By the way, anyone can start a Farmgirl chapter.. maybe starting one in your own hometown is the solution to what I was trying to do, which just isn't working out .. originally the chapter I started up was for the Lebanon area... but anyone is welcome. There are many chapters in Kentucky and if you do a search there may be one closer to home. I think when I get back I am going to organize a Potluck Picnic at my home in Lebanon, I will post the day and time etc.. and anyone that is interested can join in.. Until then have a happy farmgirl kinda summer!

Yup! If you do a farmgirl chapter search, that will come up. I'm still trying to get some definite answers on dates from people. I'm pretty open except for this weekend.

hi ladies...haven't been on the site in a while...I was wondering if Kentucky Farmgirls were still working on getting together. Is there a chapter formed? If I remember right, someone had said something about "Smiling Country Hens"; I can't find it-maybe I'm not looking in the right place...any guidance out there would be very welcomed

Per the other thread, I think early June would work out better. Maybe a Sunday afternoon? I've got Farmer's Market on Saturdays until about 3 or so.

Aw! I'm jealous! Ours doesn't start til late for some reason. :( I thought it would start the 22nd, but, come to find out, it's June 5th. Oh well. I probably won't have much to sell then! Nothing will be grown!

Whatever works for you all will work for me. And Megan, our Farmer's Market opened May 1st but it was raining cats and dogs. I look forward to the day I could be selling instead of buying!

You gals tell me when and where and I will be there. The third or fourth Saturday in May sounds great as I will be an aunty by that time and will have baby pictures to show. (I'm so stinkin excited) I would love for the gathering to be on a farm. I'm in Louisville and don't get to see many farm things like animals or orchards or really grass for that matter. And, afternoon would be great because if I'm 2 hours away it will give me time to hot-foot it down there! YAY!!!!!

I think an informal lunch is a great idea. I too am willing to travel a bit. Not sure where Crab Orchard or Paint Lick is, but I can use a map! I'm up for getting together in May and the 3rd or 4th Sat in May sounds great. I don't have a preferred location Shirley, and I would be willing to host something later this summer too. (Etown) My email address is dshonings@hotmail.com; I check that much more often that MJF. Keep me posted ladies! Looking forward to planning the date :)

Yeah, Crab Orchard is quite close to me, at about 30 minutes! e-town is a little over an hour (along with Lebanon), and Louisville is 2 hours.

So, the only weekends that I won't be able to host is July 6-16th, as I'll have friends in. Any other weekend is fine! :)

I'm definitely interested in becoming a part of a farmgirl chapter. I'm willing to travel! My goal is to one day have a real farm of my own and I would like to get out there and see what the rest of KY has to offer. And, then you gals could come see some city chickens!
