My sweet Violet and I went to pick wild sweet violets for jelly making and thought I'd give you girls a few pics. The violets sure seem blue this year--so pretty!

A "Rose" among the violets...she's a good picking partner, for sure.

We canned 10 jars of jelly last night and will do 10 more tonight--as I understand it, my husband is out picking Violets right now, so it looks like I'll be canning through the weekend as our hillside is just chock full!

Thanks, Nancy! I didn't plan on her wearing purple and picking Violets, but it just turned out that's what happened!

Thanks, girls--we've been picking violets consecutively for the last few days--she really enjoys it, but is easily distracted by "dinosaur bones"--or, rocks to us--that she finds while digging in the dirt with sticks :) Our Rose is such a good dog--she just sits on the hill, watching, or lying in the cool grass. It's very peaceful!

Violets have always been a favorite flower of mine and our lower back field is just full--and I mean full! We started making violet jelly (along with wild bramble jelly) a few years before Violet was born and when we tossed around names for girls, "Violet" was a no brainer! Thank you for your compliments--she's my own true love, that's for sure!!! @Emily Anna--those shoes are a must have--I buy all Violet's shoes from Clarks. They cost a bit more, but darn do they last! Those shoes have been around since the end of August and though she's worn them almost everyday, the sole doesn't look at all abused. I highly recommend Clarks!

Here's a pic of the violet jelly I made the night before--we made two more batches last night. I will probably take a break tonight and then pick back up tomorrow night (a rockin' Friday night at my house!).

The jelly has such a delicate flavor--it's not overly floral like Lavender can sometimes be, though I do love Lavender. We use it as a general jelly around the house--on toast, scones, bagels, etc...but my husband has even used the jelly as a glaze for a pork roast and it was amazing!

What an adorable violet picker! Violet jelly?? I have never heard of that but it sounds so interesting! What color does the jelly end up being? Please share more details with us.

Wow, my favorite flowers x infinity, PLUS your little girl is adorable! I have always wanted to make violet jelly. Any tips for a beginner?

A hook, a book, and a good cup of coffee....

Jonni, she sure is a lil cutie! I love her purple, ruffly violet picking top, and those shoes are so cute! Rose does look like she'd be the perfect picking partner! :)

How on earth do you make violet jelly?? I have never hear of such a thing, but it sounds wonderful! Would you mind sharing the recipe?
