I have tried to post pictures the past few days but only get a little box with a red X. What am I doing wrong? I do it the same way I have been.

Hi Marilyn,

I would point my finger more at using IE than your operating system. Our chat room should handle any re sizing or the images for you at this point. Do you feel like experimenting and uploading some pictures on this thread using a different browser? I'd be curious to see what happens!

Thanks,

~Brian

Well, I was finally able to get my photos to upload from my tablet. Could the problem have something to do with using either an older version of Internet Explorer and/or a Microsoft Vista operating system? My tablet has the latest version of IE and is running Windows 8.

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

I am having trouble posting pictures. The pics are resized so they should be okay in terms of file size and there are no symbols or characters in the file name. I've tried reloading the two pages suggested earlier in this thread but they both come up as "cannot be found" so it doesn't find them and they don't open up in a new screen if I hit refresh. I can get as far as telling the preview screen that I am done editing my photos but they don't ever post to the message. Any ideas?

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Quick test here to make sure all is still working correctly, after some updates to the photo upload:

The sheep you are looking at are Valais Blacknose Sheep from Switzerland. None in the US in the article I read. Wool is course and used for rugs, etc. per the article. Cute as all get out, ha? Found an article in Farm Show Periodical. Also an article with video links on Rural-living-hq.com.

Well, we got one working. Glad you're squared away, Tall Holly.

katmom:

I don't know if you've seen by now, but I think the icons not showing up is a fluke. I would think another refresh of this page, or browsing around through a few topics (including returning to this topic by clicking a link) would remedy that. Let me know if that is not fixing itself.

As for the security thing, I did forget about that when suggesting the fix originally. I saw that, too, in Internet Explorer. (*rant* I hate Internet Explorer. Have I said that yet? They're trying to help everyone be safe, but they just make everything harder. You're already opening that file by visiting these pages, so blocking you from opening it directly is just nonsense. sigh *end rant*)
I can't think of a readily available way to remedy that, except that Internet Explorer does intelligently update itself somewhere along the way (as you saw, since the photo upload is working for you again).

Thanks to all of you for dealing with the inconveniences in the meantime. It'll hopefully be a more helpful thing in the long run.

thanks, the fix worked great.

Also, make sure to refresh any other pages you were on, before trying again. That will also be necessary.
Gabe Posted - Feb 03 2015 : 6:53:22 PM
Yes, I added a new feature. It required updating a background file that the website uses. Unfortunately, background files aren't very readily updated by browsers -- once they have them, they like to keep them in order to save time sending across the internet.

I put things in place that should trigger the browser to grab the file anew, but it's apparently not working absolutely.

If you visit this file explicitly (and hit refresh while viewing it, for good measure), it should force your browser to regrab it.

I'm sorry about the inconvenience. Browsers are a pain at times (more than just sometimes, actually). Please let me know if that doesn't seem to remedy the issue.

Hello,

Yesterday the post the picture icon worked great. Today the post the picture icon makes a preview page and then when I press "I'm done" the screen says processing for a very long time. (more than five minutes) I have given up three times and the picture has not posted. is this a new feature?

Hmmmm... That's a pickle. Does the name of your picture file have any symbols (& * % $)?

Sometimes larger images take a long time to upload. Would you be willing to email me (brianogle@maryjanesfarm.org) the image? I can see if Gabe can help me figure out what the problem is.

Thanks!

Can't get the Picture button to upload my images tonight.

I can pull in my jpg but the ULOAD just doesn't.

Is it just me??

Thanks Brian for looking into this problem. I am relieved to hear that you have the same problem and it is not just me! Perhaps Gabe has some insight that will help. In the meantime, I will have to rely on my trust camera.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Winnie,

I have no idea. I run into the same problem with pictures from my phone. I even save them to my computer, flip them right side up. Save them as a completely different file. Post to Facebook/Here and ... Sideways! Gaargha blargh!

I'll ask Gabe if he has any ideas on that.

Hi Brian~ Do you have any idea why my iPhone photos will only post on this site upside down or sideways? When I take the photo, I save it to my computer photo bank and it is always right side up. But, when I write my post and select the photo for this site, it will only post it wrong. Even if I edit the photo in my bank to be the opposite of what is showing here, it still posts wrong. Any ideas? I don't have that issue when I take photos with my regular camera, just the iPhone.

Appreciate any ideas of help! Hope you are doing well!!

Thanks,

Well that's a terrible picture. Let's try this one...

Hey there. I did a really poor picture of the button that allows you to upload pictures. Have you been having problems after hitting this button?

Thanks,

~Brian

Tara,
I would post that in the Entrepreneur thread. When posting a new topic just click on the little button in format that says insert image. It will bring up a window for you to upload an image from your computer. Just do that and then post as usual.

What are the animals I am looking at. I have never seen anything like that before. Are they sheep with hair instead of wool?
