I have tried to post pictures the past few days but only get a little box with a red X. What am I doing wrong? I do it the same way I have been.

We'll see if this image uploads and displays...

Kris, can you provide the name of the image(s) you're trying to upload?
I've usually found so far that problems stem from particular characters in the image name, like apostrophes.
Apostrophes and quote marks have to be removed from image names, otherwise they cause problems with the database and the code of the forum. So, then, after upload, the server is trying to look for an image with a different name.

...
I might have to look at that and see now if there's a better way to handle such things.

I have tried to post a picture using photobucket and I get the url showing up in my post. I don't know what I am doing wrong. The post I am talking about is in: Farmgirl Swap: Christmas in May on page 3, ladybek9756 is where the picture is posted at this time.

It needed quotes around the actual address in the URL portion that was showing up.
Not so obvious a thing, eh?

I took care of it for you, Ladybek.

If it's telling you that it can't open the window, then you may need to refresh this file:
http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/inc_code.js
(You can safely just close the window that opens after clicking here; or use the back button in your browser to return after you visit it, if it doesn't open in a new window/tab.)

What are the animals I am looking at. I have never seen anything like that before. Are they sheep with hair instead of wool?

Tara,
I would post that in the Entrepreneur thread. When posting a new topic just click on the little button in format that says insert image. It will bring up a window for you to upload an image from your computer. Just do that and then post as usual.

Hey there. I did a really poor picture of the button that allows you to upload pictures. Have you been having problems after hitting this button?

Thanks,

~Brian

Hi Brian~ Do you have any idea why my iPhone photos will only post on this site upside down or sideways? When I take the photo, I save it to my computer photo bank and it is always right side up. But, when I write my post and select the photo for this site, it will only post it wrong. Even if I edit the photo in my bank to be the opposite of what is showing here, it still posts wrong. Any ideas? I don't have that issue when I take photos with my regular camera, just the iPhone.

Appreciate any ideas of help! Hope you are doing well!!

Thanks,

Winnie #3109

Hi Winnie,

I have no idea. I run into the same problem with pictures from my phone. I even save them to my computer, flip them right side up. Save them as a completely different file. Post to Facebook/Here and ... Sideways! Gaargha blargh!

I'll ask Gabe if he has any ideas on that.

Thanks Brian for looking into this problem. I am relieved to hear that you have the same problem and it is not just me! Perhaps Gabe has some insight that will help. In the meantime, I will have to rely on my trust camera.

Have a great weekend!

Can't get the Picture button to upload my images tonight.

I can pull in my jpg but the ULOAD just doesn't.

Is it just me??

Hmmmm... That's a pickle. Does the name of your picture file have any symbols (& * % $)?

Sometimes larger images take a long time to upload. Would you be willing to email me (brianogle@maryjanesfarm.org) the image? I can see if Gabe can help me figure out what the problem is.

Thanks!

Hello,

Yesterday the post the picture icon worked great. Today the post the picture icon makes a preview page and then when I press "I'm done" the screen says processing for a very long time. (more than five minutes) I have given up three times and the picture has not posted. is this a new feature?

Yes, I added a new feature. It required updating a background file that the website uses. Unfortunately, background files aren't very readily updated by browsers -- once they have them, they like to keep them in order to save time sending across the internet.

I put things in place that should trigger the browser to grab the file anew, but it's apparently not working absolutely.

If you visit this file explicitly (and hit refresh while viewing it, for good measure), it should force your browser to regrab it.
http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/inc_ajax.js

I'm sorry about the inconvenience. Browsers are a pain at times (more than just sometimes, actually). Please let me know if that doesn't seem to remedy the issue.

Also, make sure to refresh any other pages you were on, before trying again. That will also be necessary.
