Hi Farmgirls,

Last week we lost my beloved aunt, my mom’s twin sister, unexpectedly. She was such an inspiration to me. She loved antiques and animals, raised five children and has grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was “Aunt Nana” to my daughter, a name she coined for herself and we loved that!

I am so blessed that I got to see her in April for spring break. We spent a wonderful day together with my daughter, two of my cousins, my niece and her husband and my brother.

Farmgirls, you would have adored her!

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

Dianna, thank you. Yes, she has been really walking down Memory Lane. I know my aunt is with my grandma and grandpa now. She was an original farmgirl, for sure.

Thank you. It’s surreal. I can’t believe my mama’s beautiful twin sister is gone. It wasn’t expected. I have so many memories to cherish. Wish I could hug my cousins! Hopefully I will see them this year. So hard living so far from family!

Annie, I love what you said! Beautiful way of looking at things.

Just now seeing this. I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in August this year. So I understand. It may be a difficult holiday this year. Prayers for you and family.

I am sorry for your loss of your dear Aunt. Whenever you think of her just know that her essence of personhood became integrated with you over the years and your experiences became memories. She is a part of your story and I believe it is because of this that we are so saddened by our loss of loved ones. I remember the ones that have gone on before me and when I do I know what they taught me, what we shared together and I live knowing they made a contribution to my living. We never really forget them but eventually can remember them without such a deep pang of loss. I know I carry a part of them within my own being and so they walk along with me as I continue on in honor of them. I have learned to smile as I remember them and I often say out loud, I miss you. I thank you for our time together. Best to you! Annie

Thanks everyone. I am okay, but will have moments where I am reminded of her or think about her. Found last year’s cards she sent. Worried about my own mama but she seems to be okay. My aunt’s email address was spammed and my mama got an email from her address which upset her a lot. I am praying for my cousins as they lost their dear mama.

We lost my grandpa at Christmas when I was five. Remember it like yesterday, and my grandma on mama’s side at Christmas 20 years ago. Always hard to lose someone but at this time of year it is doubly difficult.

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole
