Whoot Whoot,,, our new Water Well is going in..
When we bought this little 14ac Ranchette.. we signed an agreement that we could stay attached to the neighbors Well for 5years... Our plan was to sink the Well in 2022.. but,, the Well Fairies were watching over us,, and made our plans come sooner! Wahoo!
The guys Drill on Friday,, and then the following week,, all the 'equipment/pump/stuff' gets installed and hooked up...
We are tickled pink...

I have to be honest,, I do not miss city tap water and all the floride and chemical treatment..
We do put a whole house filter to the incoming water to keep sediments out and a Reverse Osmosis filtration system at our sink for drinking water.
The hooking up will be sometime next week,, first they have to trench out new lines, add the pump and then run electricity from the house to the pump..
So all in all,, fingers crossed, we should be all good to go by the end of next week.. fingers crossed...

I thought longingly of your new well and that lovely cool water today. Our water in the summer comes out of the cold tap at 90 degrees. Makes me wonder why I bought a new water heater.

That is such good news, Grace. So happy to hear. Sorry it has been such an expense for you. And you have a backup plan for 40 years down the road. LOL!

Well,,, we got the Well in and now to wait for the pump and hook-up..

65ft down, clean ice cold water, 10-12gpm... there are 2 more aquifers from 135 to 400ft.. so if this one ever goes to low we can re-drill and go lower.., that being said it could be 40 years before we need to go lower..

Whew! we are so relieved...

RTG,, yep, sun was out for a couple of hours,, in came the dark skies,, and now it's lightly raining. oy vay! lol!

On the good news side,, the Driller Dudes hit water at 35ft, with 10-12 gpm.. but that aquifer is only 4ft deep... we need at least double that.. so they are drilling deeper.. but they just called it a day and will be back 1st thing in the morning.

OY, Grace!! That is one price ticket to to deal with. But, you got to have water and hopefully, from now on the process will be straight forward and successful. Keep us posted. At least the sun was out today!

I know,, Right!

They have to et in a larger pipe then insert a smaller one.. don't want what happened last time to happen again. The lines caved and back filled... If it were a normal regular drill it would have only been $65 per foot.
We have predominatly Basalt and granet but there are layers of clay and sand... but mostly basalt.

Holy cow -- that's $100 a foot! Here's hoping it's really good water.

OK,, the Drilling Dudes are back.. and getting set up...
We hired a Geological Dude guy to 'scan' our property for other possible water sights.
He did find 3,, to of which are at the far back side of our property about 700ft.. and the 3rd one is between our house and barn,, between our garden and fruit trees,, go figure..
So,, keep your fingers crossed for us.. that we strike water..
According to the Geo Dude, there is water between 135ft down to 400ft... at 150 ft, we are looking at $15.000.00 for the drilling only... not including the electrical and motor stuff..

Deb,
the Geo dude had to head back to New Mexico, his mom was in ill health.. but he texted me the other day that he will be back on our property on Thurs, 4th to finish up.. He found several water sources on the back side.. now he will check the front side, send in the data to be deciphered as to the best source, and depth.. then we can re-drill.. looks like we might be starting up again by mid month of June...
Fingers crossed we get at least 18gal per minute.. it we get 8gpm or less we will need to put in a Cistern to hold water.

Oh Grace I hope everything works out. This reminds me of the movie Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. They had issues with finding water and it was funny but only because it was a movie. I'd hate to have it happen in real life.

Grace, this is a nightmare for sure!! Hopefully, there is a solution soon. If not, would you consider selling the place and doing something else? What are your other options?

Here is the conundrum,,, the Dad bought 40ac,, and gave 5ac to one daughter and 20 to the other and he kept the middle 15 ac which we bought (minus 1 1/2ac)... the 'family well' is on the daughter with 15 ac property,(paid for by the dad), and all 3 homes share that well.. The daughter with 5 ac sold and moved away.. so the current owner put his own well in, to disconnect himself from the current sister as we are trying to do.. The dad passed away,, that's how we bought the property, from the daughter with the 20ac.. and she is becoming a real night mare.. We have a legal binding contract, with full disclousers,, that we 'co-own' with shared interest in the well on her property,, Now she wants to charge us for water and has threatened to shut the water off to our property if I water one more plant.... Which she legally can not do as we own 1/2 the well.. She is nuttier then squirrel poop and getting nuttier by the day.. the neighbor that bought the other property said that is why he put his own well in.. she was driving him crazy with her crazy behavior.
She is in her mid 70's, never married and gives new meaning to 'penny pincher-tight wade.. I swear,, she wears the same pair of pink pants every day,, and now she is ironing on those iron on patches..
I have tried to be very nice to her and bit my tongue to many times when she hs made snarky comments to me... I chalk it up to her being an unhappy camper.... but the sooner we get our Well in the sooner I do not have to deal with her.. which is sad because I don't want to be like that...

Breath,,,,, Grace, Breath....

Gosh Grace, what a frustrating situation finding a useable water site. Who knew it was so complicated? I sure hope they have success soon because I know the longer the company is there working, the faster the bill climbs up! Keeping my fingers crossed they will have success soon and you can finally have the water source your need on your own land.
