LAST CALL FOR THE DOTEE DOLL
All who participated in February had so much fun - let's do it again.
Dotee Dolls are the creation of Dorothy Christian (Dot), and are named after her. Dotees are small handmade dolls that usually measure between 3 to 5 inches tall and have a loop on the top of the head for hanging and a tail hanging from the bottom of the doll. The tail is usually made of beads. These dolls are embellished with beads, embroidery floss, buttons or anything else the artist chooses to use with a face that is either embroidered, painted or drawn. You can find hundreds of examples on the internet. Check out the February Dotee Swap to see what our Sisters created.
Sign up by by April 21st, partners posted on the 22nd, mail by May 1st.
Be sure to post a picture when you receive your doll. Everyone wants to see their own dotee doll displayed. Thank you for coming out to play again.

Woo Hoo! Gerta arrived today via the USPS railroad. LOL! I received my Dotee from Dianna today. She has a German flair and I love love love her. Thank you so much, Dianna. She arrived bringing Stroopwafels cookies, lemonade mix, and cute flowerettes I can use to decorate Dotees or other craft things.
Thank you so much! I do love Gerta. You did a beautiful job making her.
And BTW - the Stroopwafels are WONDerful!

LINDA!!!! Dottee is here abd is BEAUTIFUL!!! She did not arrive until yesterday afternoon but I had drs appointments over 6 hours yesterday so by the time I got home and checked Saras final exams I was a beat puppie!!
I opened her today! I love her, plus the friendship bracelets ( which I was going to go buy also) the squares with embroidered birds(?), the chicken s&p( love) and notepad!!! I feel terribly spoiled! Thank you so much! Shes adorable, an angel!! Thank you!!! Hugs!!

Oh Kathy, we are kindred spirits for sure. My mom also taught me 'how to be a lady and the things she thought would get me through life but it was my dads teaching me how to change oil, work on my car, repair things that really stuck with me. ( he always wanted boys but got 3 girls, lol)
I deeply love God's world and all its complexities and I love that my mom taught me how to be girly too! So all that along with a very creative right brain makes me ( and you) uniquely created!! Doesnt it??

I remember my dear mother explaining how I could no longer wrestle with the boys and how devastated I was, Mom broke my heart. I was a tree climber, jumped out of the hayloft, carried little ring-necked snakes in my jeans pocket and all of the other good stuff that the neighborhood boys did. I learned how to play mumbly peg with the best of them. Then took ballet lessons every Saturday Morn with girlfriends so that I might someday be a lady. LOL Mom tried. She taught me all of the finer things that young ladies did, knitting, crochet, sewing, and embroidery. You see I am 77 and back in the '40s and '50s I was raised to be a "wife". Funny how I look back and admire my mom and appreciate the challenges she must have had trying to raise me.
