Just finishing up the second one. Hopefully they will be in the mail by the end of next week. So much to do so little time.

Too funny Victoria. I don't feel so bad now. I had some fits trying to sew up my potholders too.

Hi! Girls ~
Yes, I agree potholders are not exactly easy to make. They look like they should be, but... I think the hard part is the binding and that's the part I dislike about making a quilt ~ it's so hard to get the corners to look right! A few ideas -
1.round the corners of the potholder and cut your binding on the bias so it will ease around the corners
2. make the potholder "pillow style" by sewing it right sides together, trim seam allowance, turn, press with iron and topstitch around the edges (no binding!)
3. make these really fun & easy "pocket potholders" that I've been making lately - NO BINDING! Here's the post on my blog with the link for the tutorial:
http://auntdaisyscottage.blogspot.com/2009/07/potholder-swap.html

Happy sewing! :)

Hi Tina,

I hope you liked my potholders, I didn't put in crochet ones, just three quilted ones. Let me know that you got them.

Thanks,
Marsha

OK Marcia I finally finished your potholders. Please remember I am just learning to sew. The seams are not so straight but I really did try. Isn't there some saying like its the love that counts. I hope you like them. I'll be sending them out Weds.

Julie,
Your pot holders arrived!!!! They are so pretty! I love the little rosettes and buttons. Of course, I am not going to use them, just hang them next to the stove so I can admire them! :)
Thank you!!!
The ones I am making for you will be sent out eventually. I am a first time pot holder maker(even though I have been sewing for years), and am determined that I am going to do these!!! I will let you know when I send them.

Beware Brenda they are not as easy to make as you might think. I'm a trauma nurse and very little rattles me but I was ready to go screaming through the pasture trying to get those darn pot holders finished.

Lol, thanks for the encouragement Victoria!! ;) I know exactly what you are talking about though, all the tutorials or instructions I've seen make it seem so easy..... but the good news is that I got them done!!! And, I am pleased with them! Now of course my daughter wants me to make some for her!
They go out in Monday morning's mail..

Way to go Brenda! I was fine until I had to put the trim on it. I think they turned out ok I haven't heard from Marcia yet to find out if she likes them. Does anyone else get that sick feeling when you send someone something. Thinking "what if it does not look as good as I think it does?"

Sue,
I can't believe it took so long to get there I put them in the mail on the 20 of August. It took 25 days to get to you. I thought for sure that they were lost.So I started some new tonight. But I will just keep these and wait for the next swap.

I am glad you got them and liked them.

Victoria,
Your potholders are in the mail!! Sent today. I hope you like them. I think they turned out very cute. The ones you sent me are wonderful by the way. 'Specially the birdhouse one.

The canning is finished for the week, for me at least. We worked one pears today but they weren't all ripe. The girls will just have to muddle along without me and I know they can do it. I'm off to a quilt retreat tomorrow and won't be home until Sunday. Thank God! I need it.

Marcia

Victoria,
I'm glad they got there safely. The quilt retreat was great but yesterday it was 'back to the real world' for me. It's so sad when work gets in the way.
