I'm in Northern Kentucky, about an Hour and 25 minutes from Louisville (via Hwy 71), in Elsmere (around Florence?). We go to Louisville frequently, the last being 2 weeks ago for our anniversary--we always eat at Lilly's on Bardstown Road. I know, I know, what ISN'T on Bardstown Road????

We should have a KY/S.IN get together sometime because I know there are quite a few of us. If I had a farm or even some land (not my .20 of an acre) I would offer.

Anyone else living around here?

I'm not sure if Miss Wilma is still up to it, be we usually look forward to the Autumn Farmgirl Gathering at her place, in Knob Lick, Kentucky (near Bowling Green and Glasgow). It's not that far from Louisville at all..it's typically in October.

Did you get the farmhouse completed? I loved looking at all your pictures. The transformation was amazing! I wanted to go to Miss Wilma's last year but I went out of town. If she is doing it this year I will try everything to go.

Kathryn - So far, I've had drywall put in the new addition and 15 gallons of drywall primer are sitting out there waiting for me! :) We hope to finish the addition and move by next June and then just keep working on the old part. I'm quitting my job at the end of June and I'll be my own contractor then! HAHA! For the last slightly over two weeks, my dh and I have been dealing with the aftereffects of the flooding here in town. That's been some fun!

Oh no did you get flooded? We live so far East in Jefferson County we were not anywhere near the bad flooding except for the roads.

Is the farmhouse in IN or KY?

We had six feet of H20 in our basement here in Louisville. The furnace, water heater, freezer, dryer, washer, most of our clothes, books, trains,on and on and on...But the gunky mess it became after the waters swirled it all together and left it in heaps three feet deep on the muddy, stinky floor...well, that stuff in the heat was pretty much unbearable. And the dh was in AZ for the week....hooray! I hired a dumpster, had a car that was flooded in the driveway hauled away, and carried garbage bag after garbage bag to the dumpster for four ten hour days before he came home to help. And here's the funny part...a FEMA guy came and doubted that we had that much water(all the houses on the block were surrounded by water up to two feet high on the basement windows and six feet in the basement itself.)Because I was so diligent about cleaning it up NOW, FEMA doesn't think I had a problem! LOL! The basement is empty b/c I EMPTIED it! They don't want to even look at the pics I took. My dh gets very angry when the news cameras show people just standing around in their nasty mess waiting for someone to either give them money or come clean it out for them.

The other night on the news they showed some guy standing in his basement surrounded by moldy wet stuff saying "We need someone to come help us clean. We need help.". Dh thought that maybe he should at least start and then maybe he couldhave "help" but most people seem to just want someone else to do it.

I am so sorry to hear that you were in the worst of it. Dh and I keep talking about how God must have a Revelations type bullseye on Louisville. In the past 10 months we have had: a hurricane (last I checked we were landlocked but okay), the worst ice storm in memory, and a rain storm that turned into the most rain to EVER fall in a single day during August. Not to mention that the first two caused the #1 and #2 power outages ever in the state.

I am waiting for locusts.
