Hope everyone is staying Warm! Peggy, your prayers mean the world! thanks for sending the card too!!

Heather, I love all these pictures!!!!!! Now, that is some real snow!! WE rarely see real snow here, it is usually sleet with snow mixed in, not the pretty fluffy stuff!!
I love coming here to see all the pictures and what everyone is doing! I am a little slow getting here sometimes!
Hugs!

Thanks for the offer of the snow. I don't think that it will make it here before it melts since we are having a heat wave now. Just loved the pictures. That will have to do for now until I graduate and we move to an area that has snow in the winter. Just keep the pictures coming.
School is intense and I have managed to not get in on the good side of one of my instructors already. Bad thing is I have two classes with him. Boy I hope I can remedy this quickly.
Thanks for asking.
How did your gifts go over. I heard from Betty and she commented on receiving one on her gift.
Hugs

They were great Becky. Thank you again so much for making them for me. It also gave me the opportunity to tell people about MJF and how wonderful the girls are. If someone asked if I made them I'd tell them all about you and how wonderful you are :)

Happy Friday ladies,
It is a foggy, sleety, damp day/evening in my neck of the woods. I have made it through the first week of school. For the most part my little butterflies were pretty good, although today they must have felt they had been good enough because they were naughty. But it was Friday so I wasn't too rough on them.

I am glad for the weekend. It has been a week of getting back into routine and well it just was tiring. So this evening hubby and I decided to order pizza in which meant no cooking for me. YEAH. Now I have a pot of tea and a good book awaiting me.

I hope yall are doing well and keeping warm. My little pup Jax is thrilled I am home. He was bit out of sorts this week with everyone back in school. He just cracks me up. He is very talkative when I get home. I think he is telling me about his day and then he just plops down next to me...so cute.
well teapot is singing, so off I go
love to you all

Connie, I got 2 seed catalogues, the week before Christmas. I was shocked and disappointed. I like to start getting them in January, when I have time to browse them, not in December when I'm busy. I love the kitty cartoon. Too cute!
Peg, a new kitchen...~woohoo~ I'm happy for you. Glad they chose that route and not the, "Oh, let's take our time and see if we can't just remove the mold and patch things up." like some landlords would do.
Luanne, a rodeo, good for you. I just love a good rodeo, on TV or live. They are so exciting!
Heather, nice pics. I loved that pine cone pic. Wasn't late last night gorgeous? It was so heavy at times with big flakes. Then this morning hubby said it was raining...not hard, just more than a sprinkle. I'm glad it was around 40 or it would have been treacherous. Then around 4 PM a thick fog moved in. I couldn't see my neighbors house outline on the street behind us. Thick as pea soup. It lifted some by the time hubby came home around 8. It's still 45 at 11 PM. Crazy. We are suppose to have this weather thru next Tuesday, I think, then cold again. A nice little break. I may be like Cherime and open windows and air the place out. Ijust love that clean, fresh smell.
Well ladies, time to say good-nite! Have a great weekend!

Peggy, how fun to get a new kitchen. Getting through the mess won't be fun. I hope you get a good crew.

Congrats Prairie Gypsy Tammy on your win!! You will have to let us see what you get.

Becky, I sympathize with you about your teacher. I had an accounting teacher I use to drive nuts. But I also got A's in his class.

Today was a difficult day with my homework. It is a records management class. The teacher said we would use Microsoft access a little. She lied! It took me hours to figure out how to do my assignment. Needless to say a cup of tea and a jar of Nutella was in order.

Awesome! I've never won anything I don't think so this is super special :O) I'll be sure to post about what I get.

Heather - this was my first time canning beans so I did both methods to see which one I prefer. I plan on using some beans this week so I can give a better opinion after I use some. One thing we did realize was that pre-cooking them allows more per can then if you use the dry method. The pinto bean mix I pre-cooked and then filled the jars - you fill them 3/4 full and then add water or bean juice. The other beans I dry packed and they're roughly only about 1/2 full. I was told that pre-cooking causes mushy beans so I wanted to try both and see which worked better.

PeggyAnn - Yah!!!! on your new kitchen. Hopefully they find the problem so it doesn't ruin your new kitchen. Thank you so much for doing the drawing and congrats on your 4000 post!

Peggy - got your tea swap list - thank you for asking me to join. Can't wait to get my first tea sample!

After being below zero earlier in the week, it was 50 degrees and raining yesterday - bizarre weather here in Northeast PA. Finally got to celebrate Christmas today with my boyfriend's family. Between crazy work schedules and illnesses it was the first time we could all get together. We had a really nice time.

Back to work tomorrow - have a good week everyone!

Hi Girlies...

Been on my heating pad all day...bad muscle spasms. But the rain has left and we are suppose to get dry weather for
the next week.

Luanne...glad you got the Tea List....and we are glad you are going to participate this year. It is fun. I will be sending
out the first Tea Bags the third or forth week this month. With the Kitchen Remodel...which week is up in the air.

Bunny...I took before pictures of the Kitchen yesterday...so, I will have before and after pictures to share with everyone.
No, I don't get to pick anything out...but I have seen a picture of the new cabinets and they are much improved over
what we have now. I have a friend coming to help me pack up the entire kitchen and move some furniture around.
The Property Management Company will pay for one night in a Hotel...so, that we can spend 24 hours away
when they do the paint spraying. Which is good. ~ Is your mom still in California? How goes your knitting?

Lorena...sounds like you are warming up there. Last night at 11:30 it was 57 degrees here. Warm and balmy that is for sure.

Praire Gypsy Tammy...it is fun to win something once in awhile. Hope you will enjoy what I send you.

Well girls...I have to admit that I am a little disillusioned by my book The Great Pearl Heist. It is a true story that
I thought they were making a Novel out of. Well, forget the Novel Part. First off I am listening to it (which I rarely
listen to books) I like to read...but I am finding this rather like reading a very long News Paper Article...all FACTS and
very little STORY. And they could have made it so much more interesting. It is an very fascinating story...A Pink Pearl Necklace
worth 2 1/2 times more than The Hope Diamond.

I hope I make it through this read. I keep falling asleep and having to back up the next night. Crazy!

Well my Porchies...off here for tonight. See you tomorrow!

Hugs and Smiles,
Peggy

Well I survived the first week of school. Boy I do hope it gets easier. I had four writing assignments between 200 and 500 words each and just finished the last one about an hour ago. I am taking a much needed break and working on my valentine card swap. I have 5 papers due by this coming Sunday. I just figure that I would tackle it tomorrow. Bunny good luck in your classes. I hope the M Access gets better. I had a computer class last semester which was an intro to various aspects of Microsoft and Access was one of them. Not an easy program to learn.
Peggy Ann sorry to hear about your muscle spams. They can really hurt and be so troublesome.
Tammy, I had never canned beans before or even thought about it. We planted a few pinto bean plants in our garden this year. I don't know what I expected from them. They did yield a small crop and we saved the seeds for the next garden. I might try my hand at canning them. Is it hard?
Well I am going to go finish my cards. Have a lovely evening at least what's left of it.

PGTammy,
Congrats on winning the drawing. Doing happy-dance for you.
Peg, so sorry that you had spasms. Sure wish that health issue of yours would just go away! *sigh*
I got my tea list too. Yeaaaaa! We're off and running.
I made a big crock-pot of southwest-chicken-chili today. It turned out so yummy. Brought some to the porch. Help yourselves. We were sunny today but in the mid 30's, so chili hit the spot.
Rebecca, boy, they have no mercy on you do they? *slam~ouch*
Well, it's after midnite so I'm going to hit the hay.

I got 2 loaves of bread - fresh from the oven - to go with that chili Judy!!! Sounds delicious to me!
It's a muddy mess around my farm now. I don't think it's supposed to freeze this week so it's going to be muddy for a while.

I had a nice weekend. Saturday my husband and I went out with another couple. We went to what we thought was going to be a craft show, but it was a bunch of consultants instead - like 31 purses, a couple different jewelry companies, Sentsey, etc. I didn't get anything but it was a fun time. The men patiently walked behind us :) Then we went to a snowmobile place. New snowmobiles make our old one look really old and worn out, but for the price of a new one it'll be just fine for a while. The new one that I liked was orange and on sale for $13,000!!!!! I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I seen the price tag! After that we went out for a late lunch. Then it was time to come home for milking. Yesterday Hubby and I went to watch our nephew at his wrestling match. I was quite surprised how many people were there! I guess they can start when they're 4. There were about 600 wrestlers there and 12 matches going on at a time. My nephew won all 3 of his. He was happy.

My 2nd dishcloth seems to be coming along much better than my first attempt! It's a knit 2 pearl 2 pattern and so far it seems to look like it's correct - no holes anyway so it's better than the first one!

Peggy - I hope your spasms have quit. They are NO FUN!!!! I don't think I could stay awake for the book you're listening to either. I like a good story. I'm a sucker for a good romance novel.

Becky and Bunny - my hats off to you. I got my BS right after high school. I was planning to become a vet, but after prevet I was so tired of school! I can't imaging going back now. Maybe if it was something I found very interesting.

Well porchies, I think I need a cup of tea before evening milking. Have a great week!

Hello ladies,
I do hope your Monday was good. It was a beautiful day here in Nebraska. I did not go to school today because we took my son to a specialist. So I hope my butterflies were good.

As for my son, we took the next step. They did several tests today but results will not be in for few days. Later this week they will do a MRI to get a better look at the joints and ligaments. The problem is he is sstill growing so we don't see the damage because his bones and muscles regenerate, but he feels the damage. We are waiting for the insurance to approve the MRI and hopefully we will have some more details to make a better diagnosis. Son is frustrated cause he was hoping today he would know. They said no more wrestling this year until we really know what we are dealing with. They ruled out bone tumors, crushed disc, and some other possible causes. Because of our family history, they feel we are heading in the right direction. They did give him some meds to help ease the pain for now. Until they know, they won't put a treatment plan together. If it is not this, they said we will go a different direction. I am not stopping until I know exactly what is up. I want my son to enjoy life again without as much pain as possible. So prayers would be so appreciated.

Peggy I got the tea list. Printed it off, put one on my computer too. I am good to go.
Tomorrow is our first bible study. We postponed last week due to such cold weather. I am so anxious to see these ladies.
well I must get ready for school tomorrow.
love to you all

Evening My Porchies...

Judy and Heather...thanks for the homemade- Chili and Bread. We haven't had any yummy food on the Porch
for awhile. I left some Cookies ...they are a No Flour, No Oil, No Eggs, No Sugar, Cookie. They taste really
good with Applesauce over them. Or cold right out of the Refrigerator. They are made out of mashed bananas,
applesauce, golden raisins, oats, almond milk, vanilla and cinnamon. I didn't like them warm as well as cold
from the frig. They tasted so healthy I felt like drizzling some chocolate on the top of them...but didn't.
Maybe the next batch I will. LOL

Teacher Tammy...will continue to pray for your son. I do hope they find out what is wrong. I know that my Fibro
took 3 years before I got a diagnosis and I already had figured it out by myself by then...just doing my own
research. But once I had the Rhuematologist confirm it...it was like..."FINALLY" we know what it is for sure now
lets figure out how to treat it. Just knowing an official diagnosis was a huge relief.

Glad that you have your Bible Study and the Ladies there for support too.

I did finish The Great Pearl Heist and I did like it in the end...even though it did feel like reading a News Article.
They did really good wrapping it all up and telling how everyone's lives eventually ended. I think this is a book I would
have enjoyed reading much better than listening to it. And I still may go back and read it for myself. More interesting
than listening to a dry monotone Englishman.

OK...tired tonight. Found out today that we are getting an Apartment Inspection the same day our Kitchen demolition starts.
Come on people...are you serious!? How crazy is that. I told my husband he needs to get his room cleaned so they can walk
in to it to inspect it. LOL Sad but true!

Night my Sweet Things.
Peggy

Good afternoon everyone. Sorry Becky but I got my homework done early today. It is an intermediate Excel class. I love Excel. It's like learning magic to me. The book is great with step by step instructions. I feel for you on your writing assignments. I always tried to pace my classes that required a lot of writing so I didn't take too many in one quarter. I had one class where we were required to write a 30 page research paper. I gave up at 21 pages and still got an A-. I would really like to take a creative writing course but I don't want to do poems or screen plays. Both are the only classes I have see offered at my college. Besides they aren't in my lesson plan and being on Financial Aide.. I can't take them and have FA pay for them anyway.

Peggy, sorry about the spasms. No fun for sure. Too bad your book was a bust. I hate to get into a book and really not like it. You should have just read the cliff notes and the last few pages and moved on. I think getting the apartment inspection on the same day as demolition is hilarious! Just pile all the kitchen stuff in your husband's room. Then he won't have to clean anything.

Well I get to head to the sewing room to find inspiration for sewing. Tomorrow I need to head to the grocery store. It's getting pretty lean around here. I have been trying to stay away from the store and eat up what is here. Besides when I go grocery shopping I always end up buying something bad for me like a big jar of Nutella or candy bars.... None of those healthy cookies for me... no mame!!

Anyway, until later... stay warm and safe.

Hi gals,
Peg, you are so funny, you want to put chocolate on everything. I told Mama that I read something in a health magazine the other day that would thrill you to death. It said that instead of cough syrup for that cough, try a piece of dark chocolate. hahaha I said, "woo-hoo", Peg will be doing the snoopy dance over that one. lol Patsy said she tried it and it worked with cheap chocolate. ummmm....ok....sure! Maybe just wishful thinking. hahaha Or just bring on the chocolate...any chocolate. Peg says, "YUP!"
Wow, There's an example of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing...an inspection and a tear-out all in one fell swoop. GOOD GRIEF! Maybe when they both show up at the same time, one will bow out until the next day, hopefully the tear-out guys. Right?
Well today was Mama's 86th birthday. We took her a dinner from a restaurant that we were at and a DQ cake. She ate the cake first of course. The dinner probably went in the fridge. *sigh*
Bunny, Nutella isn't good for you?? Oh dear, don't tell Patsy that. You'll burst her bubble. hahaha
Well, later gators! Oh, we had lots of sun today/42.

Evening girls! It appears our warm up is fading away, if you can call 30' a warm up lol. At least during the day it's supposed to be above 0' for the whole week which is a HUGE improvement. It is winter and it is ND so I can't expect much more.

It's only Tuesday and it's been quite a week. Monday afternoon we got called via intercom to come for a quick meeting at the front of the office. The company fired our office manager. What a blow. I'm still staggering. I know M* hasn't been super happy with his job but I'd hoped it would change once things got a little more settled after all the change ups. He's decided he's had enough and he's going to start looking for another job. If it will make him happy I'm for it. I'd worried about him going from such a hands on position to a corporate management position when he took the position. He just isn't feeling good about what he does and I can respect that. Nonetheless, it was still like a double punch this week that's left me feeling a little unsettled.

Bean Update: I used several cans of the beans for chili Sunday night. M* described them as being more buttery in texture. There's not as firm as the cans you'd get in the store. We liked them though. One thing I did notice was that the one's I'd precooked looked like they had absorbed most of the liquid in the jar so I'm a bit worried they might dry out on top if I don't use them up quickly. I'll either have to fill them less full with beans and use more water or use the other method next time. Actually canning beans is not hard at all. There's a lot of wait time while working them depending on what method you use. Using the dry canning method is the fasted and easiest method.

This was my weekend project. This corner had become a dumping ground as you can see along with the much improved after picture. I will admit to only partial responsibility for this mess. Believe me I had some help. LOL

I feel for everybody and their collage classes. I'm so OCD about getting A's I work way to hard on assignments. I'm considering doing online classes but I need to find one that's reasonably priced. We have a small private university here in town but it's $425 per credit! The closest state college is over 45 minutes away so it's not really an option.

PeggyAnn - Sorry you're not feeling well. It's great you finished the book. I've recently gotten into listening to audible books and podcast myself. It's not the same but it gives me something to block the noise out at work. I don't know why I didn't consider it before but I also tried watching Pride & Prejudice (1995 version) on Youtube (on my phone) yesterday while I was working. I've seen it so many times it's like an audiobook for me LOL It's opened up possibility to listen to movies and shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu though. I might actually be able to catch up on a couple series or watch some that M* wouldn't like. The options, the options LOL Now having opened this possibility I'm going to have to give serious consideration to my next phone. It must be the week for bad books. I started the Sarah Palin book and quit after the 2nd chapter. I liked her book Going Rogue but this book just made me grind my teeth. I'll wait a bit and try another chapter and see if it improves on me or if it's to the book swap box.

Okay, I'm off to bed. PeggyAnn - feel better! Tammy hope they figure out what's up with your son. I know it's got to be trying. Night everybody.

Quick Prayer Request to my praying buds on The Porch.

7 month old Smiley Grandson..Elijah...going in for surgery this morning. It is to fix his
urethra tube. He pees out the bottom of the penis instead of the top. So, they are fixing
it and circumcising him today too. They needed the extra foreskin for the surgery. So,
pray for successful surgery and the nervous parents. I will be with them as well as the
other Grandma.

More Later...Thanks girls,
Peggy

I shall put your grandson in my prayers and keep us in touch as to how things went.

Bunny, well I wish I could separate my writing classes. But since my degree is on writing, I don't have that option. I am glad that you like Excel. I did too. I also enjoyed the Powerpoint part of the class. Will you have Powerpoint? I understand what you mean about the creative writing classes. The one I took was mostly about poetry and I really wanted to learn about writing non-fiction. It was okay. Since I chose it as one of my electives, financial aid paid for it. Maybe you could find such a class on line or at a community center. I know that they offer a lot of classes.

Tammy, congrats on your winning. That is so cool. You deserve it girl.

I wish I had more time for pleasure reading. But most of my reading is technical books of some sort. The only other books that I have time to read are the books assigned by my Lit professor. We are reading The Great Gatsby now. I am also reading a sci-fi book for a research paper I have to do for that class as well.
Well I have homework due tonight and I just am not in the mood to do it, but I guess I better get back and write my paper and get it posted before 11pm tonight. Have a wonderful night and I will catch up with you gals later.

Judy, LOL Nutella is only bad when I eat it out of the jar and don't pay attention to how much.

Peggy, prayers for the little guy. A friend of mine had a son that went through that and all came out fine. It will probably be a bit stressful for all as he heals but I bet he does fine.

Hi My Porchies...

Surgery went well. Baby was Happy before surgery and Happy after surgery. He gave me his first kiss on the lips before
he went into surgery. Melted my heart! Before he would just kiss you on the cheeks. The Dr. said that the first couple
times he peed it was going to feel like Razors (both grandmas, Auntie, and mommy all gasped). The Dr. looked at us again
and said, "Ok, lets change that to needles." That didn't make us feel any better for the little boy. But I know after
about 8 days he will feel as good as new and won't remember a thing.

Well, girls I am tired. I was gone from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. It was a long day and I am ready to just kick back and relax.
Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts.

Love and Hugs,
Peggy
