Pie crust trimmings with cinnamon sugar... NOTED!!! :)

I've recently completed a wreath for Halloween, other than adding a black and white ribbon bow...

I'm currently working on the pumpkin candle mat project above. I think I am going to just embroider the green vines, but still have the leaves cut from felt...

My husband just bought a quilting machine (table and everything I would need to quilt) for HIS birthday. He paid $600 for two machines and everything (same as mine). He sold one last Saturday for $600. So, as you can see, Mine was free. YEAH!!!!!!!. I have not had time to put a quilt in yet but maybe soon. Mom's doctor's appointments, therapy and putting up our garden have taken up a lot of my time.

Gma D... I 'sew' look forward to spending time with my grand girlies when they are a wee bit bigger/older...
I truly believe spending time with them at the sewing machine is wonderful bounding time.
Lucky you to be spending that time with yours.

I was at a quilt retreat Thursday-saturday morning - had to leave early because of an invite to dinner by Ed's son's family. I finished 5 quilt tops - all UFOs (some longer in the stack than others). LOL! I also made 2 dish towels and 5 pan-savers (they go in between pans in the cupboard so they don't scratch). Here are pictures of 4 of the quilts. One not pictured is a Star Wars quilt of 10" squares. The Star Wars and the 2 Minion quilts are for my grandsons, and they went home from the retreat with my long-arm quilter and I should have them back in 2 weeks.

The Minion quilts are from kits, however, because they are for my twin grandsons, I asked the quilt shop to substitute two fabrics that come in the kit (for the zigzag and binding fabrics) for the opposite color so they would be slightly different. The original kit calls for the blue zigzag, so the second is the same fabric but in orange.

And as you can tell, I LOVE scrappy quilts.

So many beautiful things! Linda, those quilts are adorable. And that table runner, Diana, is the best. I've been thinking of making one for my living room table. We're getting new flooring next week and would like to spruce things up a bit. Jamie, did you make the candle mat from a pattern or make it up yourself? It's great.
I completed my daughter's birthday gift. Walking Dead pillow cases. Not my thing, but she's a fan. Also made a couple of cord keepers out of some scraps.

Yes! I just traced circles of orange felt using an old CD, cut them into spirals and rolled up to make the rosettes. Just needed a lot of hot glue! lol

Such beautiful quilts everyone is making! That is one skill I haven't tackled yet! Definitely on my bucket list!!!

Jaime, you got that right! I plan to make some for me and use something more my style! LOL! I also want to try my hand at quilting. I have a rocker that needs covering. Saw this chair in a furniture store and would like to do something like this. . Any suggestions are more than welcome! ;)

Looks like you got a lot done at the retreat, Linda! Love those quilts!

Love those pillow cases, Needle. Well, I just like to put pillowcases together. But, also you are doing something it took me years to learn. You are making something you know the recipient will like...not just something you want them to like. I've never seen "The Walking Dead" but you listened to your recipient.

Mel, I love the butterfly quilt. I am partial to those older and pieced patterns!

Jaime, I might have to borrow your technique with the felt and CD.

Oh you 'sew' crafty ladies,,, busy lil' bees...

Judy,,, luv that chair,,, you are 'sew' brave just to think about taking on the task of doing a quilting upholstering...

as for me,,, I am working on lil totes for my grand girlies,,, here is the 1st one, it's called a Japanese knot tote.

I down sized the pattern for a 6yr old... but didn't downsize the width of the smaller handle to be symmetrical... oh well..

Cute Tote, Grace, I'm sure they will love them. How many grand kids do you have? I have 3, 1-13yr.girl, 1-6yr girl, and an 8yr. boy. Sure fun to sew for them! I'm sure the chair will take a while. Not actually upholstery, just slip covers. I made covers for it (back, seat and footstool) before, so I'm going to use them as a pattern. Hope that works.

Today, I tried making a small garland for our fireplace using what I had on hand. These all natural garlands look really pretty to me so I tried out my idea using small dried gourds, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, tiny faux apples, and a few rag ties. It strung it together several times before it seemed to have the symmetry it needed.

Does anyone else like to make these sorts of garlands? If you do, what do you use?

Winnie, I like your natural garland and it goes with your other fall decorations I have seen.

I haven't made one but you have inspired me to give it a try. If I do make one I will add dried red peppers & orange/lemon slices, etc. to your mini rag ties & bay leaves. I'll have to go through my fall things and see what else I can us.

I like having something easy and new to make, thanks.

Thanks Sara! I think your idea of dried red peppers and citrus slices would be beautiful! The thing about garlands is that there are no rules. You just play around and see what happens. Let us know if you get one done and how you like it.

Good idea! I"ll have to think about that. I'd like to spruce up my kitchen and maybe the living room with some fall ideas. Living in FL I really miss the changing of the seasons.
