After a lull in crafting, I'm starting to jump back in there again! Cut out felt to make a slip-on slip-off cover for Meade notebooks which I will applique and embroider. Also cut pieces for two small felt purses - will be using embroidery, beads, etc. to decorate them. |

ok,,, Jaime,,, lookie what I stitched up today,,, using bits-n-pieces of wool scraps...
I have several Shirley Hudson woolie patterns.. but I always like to put my own spin on things sew instead of making it into a 'pin'.. I added a loop of lace so I can hang it...
Jaime,,, I still want to make the 'Wine in a box' pin like you made... just to darn cute & funny!

Super cute Grace. Do you plan to use it as an ornament? Love the stork scissors! I have the exact same pair! I use them when I do nails since they are so tiny and cut nice and small.
I have started up another pair of hot pads. They will be similar to the last set I made. They requested red instead of blue though.

I made it as a little gift for a elderly friend who loves kitties.
and while I was puttering I whipped up this little hangy thingy.. ( thanx Julie for the idea)...
I was able to find the 'verse' on pintrest, printed it up, decorated it and then laminated it.. and then trimmed it with bits of ribbon and lace.

Grace, those kitties are adorable! I didn't realize there were patterns for such things. I always wondered how people came up with their ideas. I've made some felty ornaments using gingerbread man and woman cookie cutters. That was a few years ago though.
The sewing rules are funny too.

Chris,,, they are 'sew; easy to make... I don't follow the pattern but rather embellish it to my liking like using sequins and beads.
We did a 'felt pin swap' about 7 years ago,,, it was fun to see what every one came up with... maybe in the Fall I will hostess another one...
Oh Judy, lucky toy,,, I wish my grandkiddos were closer to craft with.

Grace, girlfriend you have been "sew" busy. All are so cute! Love the Sewing Rules!! Like you, I will not loan out my sewing scissors. In the past hubby and son have managed to ruin several pairs of scissors. No more. I broke hubby. The last time he did that, I broke out the checkbook and purchased the most expensive pair of scissors I could find. LOL! Yep! I broke his checkbook. LOL! But it worked.
A little tip for my sewing farmsisters.. When you purchase a new pair of scissors, hide them. Keep the old pair hubby and kids sneak and use in the same place. They will always go back to get them. Trust me, this little tip works. Also it is funny to hear grown men whine about how dull my scissors are. They should know by now they are not for cutting cardboard or trying to snip wire. The second tip is to grab the checkbook, run to purchase a new pair of expensive scissors. Expensive being the key word here. LOL! Like I told my hubby, He buys quality grade tools for himself, I too need quality tools for my trade. LOL!
Grace keep sewing! I enjoy looking at all of your keepsakes.

Deb...aka '2peas in a pod'... sooo true about the scissors ... I have a basket of 'craft ' scissors on my desk and my good (fabric) shears in my drawer of my sewing table... Hubby ' borrows ' my scissors way to often... even when we have an assortment (dollar store ones) in the junk drawer in the kitchen!!!! Thank goodness he has no need for my pinking shears!!!! Lol!

So happy to see and hear about all the wonderful creations. I love them all. As for me I throw away 2 trash bags of junk. Have everything sorted into sewing office general crafts and preschool. Oh almost forgot card making. Now to rearrange the room to make it all fit.

Oh Julie! Love your table topper! It's very pleasing to look at. The colors would match the pot holder that I am working on.
You have been busy, Ruthie Ann. Wish I could say the same about my craft room.

All I've been able to finish recently are these two birthday cards - but it's something crossed off my list at least!

What fantastic crafting and sewing that has been going on here!! All of these projects are turning out wonderful. Two days ago, I tried my hand at crafting a basket again. About 30 years ago, I did a little basket making but didn't keep it up when I got so busy with my girls and working full time. Now that they are grown and I am retired, I purchased some basket supplies and a simple pattern and got busy. I felt like I was all thumbs and I made mu share of little mistakes that are only seen on the inside of this little basket. Anyway, here is my first attempt.
I plan to make a few more of this pattern soon before I forget what i need to do differently!! LOL!! I have some colored reeds in orange that I thought might look pretty for Fall and Halloween. WE shall see what happens as I repeat this pattern a few times and get the bugs worked out and my tension on the reeds more uniform.

Great job Winnie! It turned out nice. You could make baskets and add little things inside to make a gift basket for Christmas! Can't wait to see your colored ones.
Last night I finished the taggie blanket I have been wanting to make for my son! I'm pretty excited with how it turned out and he loves it. That's all that counts right? My first sewing project in years.
