Some really cute things there. I have some lingering unfinished projects to work on. Not sure what I want to start next. The weather outside is nice so a new project will have to wait till the weather is a little more yucky.

I cut apart and dolled up an old General Mills flour sack and made it into a dish towel. It had been languishing in a drawer in my craft room forever so I thought I'd put it to good use. It is offered in my sharnymcclarny etsy shop now.

ATCs and holder for the Farmgirl Valentine ATC swap finished and ready to mail tomorrow. Took pics but can't post until swap has taken place.
Started journals . . . will post when finished. They take a couple days or so to finish!

All of your beautiful projects keep my creative juices and thoughts flowing, even when I'm inundated with dull, boring, corporate life work...bleah. Can't wait to sit down at my sewing machine again soon!!

Lisa, I learn something new here every day. I didn't know you could dry feathers like that. Thanks for sharing what you are doing.

As always, thank you ladies for sharing your projects and photos.

I am finishing many projects this winter. I made one daughter this granny square scarf with leftover yarn (she loves purple).

Kristina..your scarf is so pretty . I love granny squares.
The Borax will dry them out and so will salt of any kind.......Th hard part is plucking the feathers and taking the wings. I feel bad but the birds are shot for the meat and otherwise the feathers would go to waste .

I think that's great that you use the feathers and the meat. Over shotgun week in our area, I heard from people on how they found deer shot, and heads or antlers cut off, and the entire bodies just left behind. I've cooked pheasant once in my life, and that was a looong time ago. I'd like to supplement our meat by hunting and fishing more this year. I'd love tips on cooking pheasant too (funny how this thread came to this, ha ha!). I remember mine being a bit dry.

Will you be making more head pieces with the feathers?

I finished a book cover for mom. She's an avid reader and it has a book mark built in along with handles so she carries it wherever she goes. Made a bunch of Thank You cards and a few birthday cards to get my supply ready for the year. I think the summer will be too busy to let me work on such projects, so winter is a good time to stockpile. I'm still working on the first shawl and my cousins quilt. I'm taking everything in stages, but I hope to complete the quilt this week.

Kristina...... pheasant is really good if cooked in a crock pot or in a cooking bag . I have several recipes if you would like them. That is horrible about the killing and leaving the animals .Not responsible at all . I love to fish but I dont eat fish so I throw them back .
I enjoy making the head pieces and worked on 6 yesterday . I am dog sitting my friends bird dog this weekend and he has been a hoot. If i drop a feather he so very very carefully picks it up and gives to me.
I made him a headband yesterday even ... here is pic of him wearing it .

I am relearning to walk after an injury and wear a leg brace and the dog goes and gets stuff for me . I watch him for a week every month since summer and he has really bonded to me.

What a sweet dog, and sweet headband. Looks like her doesn't even mind wearing it. Last year I dried a turkey wing using the borax. It came out just fine. Visited a furrier/taxidermist. He told me I should have removed the bones first. Well, I just followed the instructions from an internet site, and it worked fine. The turkey was roadkill in front of our place. I made my husband cut the wing..I am a woose. But, I had to say a prayer before we cut the wing, because that is what you do.

Thank you to all my farm girl sisters who have sent me cards in the mail. I am over whelmed with the out pouring of care from you. Wish I could thank you personally. Am starting to go through Mom;s things and getting ready to donate her things. She was a pack rat to be sure! Then on to Dave's things which will be a little easier I think. I have given his children and grandchildren the things that mean a lot to them. Thank goodness that this part of my life is over (is it ever really over?) and I can move on a bit. After 3 years of caring for someone you love, where do you begin? I sold the camper (sad), the truck and my PT Cruiser (which I loved) and bought a 2012 Nissan "Juke". A more dependable car , or so I was told. Sure is sporty and rides like a dream. Time to move on.

OK, I'm ready-Let's go.

Ceejay ..I gotta have my doggie friends :) I keep thinking of getting another German Shepard since Sadie has been gone 3 years but I dog sit for several friends and so far that keeps me happy.
Judith .how sweet of your hubby :)
Kristina.the hats are nice and the prayer shawl is so pretty..
I worked last night on washing and blow drying and brushing feathers ......... The patterns and colors and textures are so pretty.
Takes about 4 hrs for a shoebox full to be done. It is just a start of them all.

Here is photo of one simple design I made with them . You really cant see it but there is a tiny owl in middle top of design.

I worked a bit on creating "Word" jewelry. I mod podged the words to the metal pieces last night . Hoping to work up a few in couple of necklaces later today .

It is pouring rain all day so i will spend the day at my work table :)

Lisa, I love that green feather with the hair clip. My kids would love your items with words too.

Susan, continued prayers.

Today, I am working on a ripple lap blanket that I started last spring......I have a list I intend to finish before gardening starts. I also finished a surprise item for another farmgirl (can't post a picture until she gets it- tee he he).
