Candleholder fashioned into glamping light with small solar lights, using pieces of cork in the bottom to push down over the metal spikes intended for candles. This was on our table at out glampsite last week . . . love the effect and they provide some pretty decent light!

Lovely, ladies! It ain't much, but I've be crazy lately making scoops out of plastic milk bottles. They are great for cat food, bird seed, fertilizer, you name it. And, an additional bonus, my 2-year-old granddaughter plays with them for hours on end!

Happy Day!

Patty, your settee is beautiful and CJ I love what you did with the candle holder!

CJ, How did you make the jugs into irrigation drips? Would you mind sharing?

Denise,
I just poke one hole with an ice pick in the bottom at the edge so that I can set it close to the tomato plant. I put down black plastic to help keep weeds down and moisture in, plant the plants in a hole in the plastic and am able to set the jug close in and just fill it with the hose. Occasionally I will check to make the sure the hole isn't clogged.,

Well, here is the pic. We use black plastic to keep down weeds and keep moisture in. The metal frames help keep the plastic from getting blown away. I cut a hole in the plastic, about 8 inches in diameter for every plant, dig the hole and plant the tomato plant. Collect gallon jugs, poke ONE small hole in the bottom where the bottom starts to turn into the side, fill with water and place with the hole next to the plant on the dirt. Bring the hose over and fill jugs as necessary. If the hole plugs (which they do because we use irrigation water) I just re-poke . . . GENTLY . . to clear them. Works pretty well!

P.S. You can't see all the jugs, but there are seven plants and each one has its own jug!

I had two chairs in the back yard that had become un-sittable. I took off the back and will be using the spindles as garden markers and the curved back as trellises.

I've spent the last two days re-purposing wool slacks and skirts of every shade of deep earthy colors, warm plaid prints and some deep reds and blues cut into 1-inch strips to make my very first WOOL rag rug on my vintage Union #36 Rag Rug Loom!

Nothing like using wool instead of cotton for rag rugs. Cotton is so much lighter and summer like. The rugs I plan on making with the wool will be so soft underfoot and very warm come wintertime in the great North Woods! I'll post some photos once I begin weaving....

Oh Melody, that sounds lovely!

I love the spindle garden marker idea, too, and the bed to a settee is adorable. I have my daughter's old crib...the creative juices are flowing!

I am in the process of collecting beaded costume jewelry that I can repurpose the beads for a Chan LuLu bracelet class. I have collected quite a few beads in the past and getting more from a couple of friends. The bracelet I am using as a pattern has over 100 beads in each bracelet because it wraps around the wrist a couple of times. It is a great way reuse jewelry that has broken. I wish I had more wooden beads to put in the mix. The class is Sept 5th. I will try to remember to post pictures of the gals finished bracelets. I love the turquoise one I wear. I would encourage you to search on Pinterest for Chan Lulu bracelets if you don't know what they are. There are Youtube videos that explains the process of making them. I think they would make nice little Christmas gifts for friends. I get compliments on mine all the time.

My husband passed his tablet to me and because I take it everywhere, I needed a cover for it. But, I couldn't see spending money for a bland cover. So I did a search for how to make them and voila!
Outside, it looks like classic literature, but inside is technology. The only thing I'd change is to make the holes for the elastic band farther in.

I love this thread, but it hasn't been going for awhile. Thought I'd post here the soda crate I repurposed for my laundry room. It's on the Suburban Farmgirl blog. There is a giveaway there, too.

I love to repurpose soda crates! So many fun uses.

Made an earring holder out of a vintage mirror (mirror was broken), so we added chicken wire and viloa!

Hi Peg

I love making jewelry and have about 400 pairs of earnings. I did a similiar idea like your. I had some old picture frames, put screen material behind them and then added the earrings. Because the screen material has smaller holes I was able to also store post earrings. The only issue is lining up the posts with all those french hooks nearby. While trying to add the back nut to the post I was knocking out the French hook style earrings.I decide lining them up by style rather than color worked best.

I have some terra cotta pots that have been outside in the weather for many years and are starting to fall apart. Instead of putting them in the trash I toss then into our gravel driveway, scattering the pieces around to add to the mix of gravel and dirt. If necessary I stomp on them to break them up more but generally they break apart enough just by throwing then hard onto the ground.

I just finished this last night. I love it. It is going out on my back patio. This was so much fun to make and didn't take me even an half an hour. I took apart an old lamp and glued the solar lamp on top of the stand of the lamp.

Patty, I love the bench you made. You are so clever. I still remember the ironing board you put on top of the dresser. So smart.

Peg, I really like the way you have used the mirror frame to use for earrings. Such good ideas.

SUCH talent here!

Cozynana - I love your solar lamp! Simple and clever and looks fantastic!!!

I wanted to share a couple more projects DH has completed.

This one shows our new porch swing! The frame used to be rusty green metal and had a different type of swing on it that rotted ages ago. DH has been saving the frame FOR-EVAH. He recently sanded it down, sealed it and used a rubber cement like black spray paint to finish it off.

Then he took the white wicker porch swing we saved from our sun room before the housefire (was in an area not directly affected) and spray painted it brown to match our new deck furniture. We added a purchased cushion to match others on the deck and behold- a thing of beauty!

This next pic shows a couple of things DH has done. The cushions on the seating are all ones he sewed up using outdoor fabric and foam we purchased. I helped with the small pillows, lol!

AND if you look close you'll see a black, low table in front of it and although it is hard to tell, there are two small square matching tables to either side of the love seat. You can see the corner of one in the shot of the swing above as well.

DH was at our last KMart a week ago - they are closing it down - and they had their tables from the garden area marked down to $10 each. He cut it up, rearranged the legs and BAM - we have a coffee table and two end tables for the deck. So proud of him!
