Blessing everyone! Hope all is good, for GOD is GOOD!
"When our days there were ended, we left and proceeded on our journey"~Acts 21:5
That would apply to me... on my journey to follow the Lord.
Took the whole family to Mass on Sunday. It was of course very fulfilling. The priest spoke about "self pity" for his sermon, and boy...when you really thing about it, so many live their lives in self pity. It is easy to get caught up in the poor me, why did this have to happen to me, etc etc etc.
Definately a subject that we can all relate to in life, and my husband has been "reminding" my DS (13 y/o) and my DD (11 y/o) to think about what the priest said on Sunday, on more than one occasion since! LOL
Thank you all for your wise words, quotes and prayers.
Hugs,

~Laurie

Ladies,
Loving the scriptures that are shared!!!

I have memorized some scripture, but mostly I think I fall into the catagory of scripture 'standing out' for me. I love it when sometimes you have read a passage over and over thru the years? Then that same passage just warms your soul for a situation one may be facing at that moment.
I am trying to be more faithful in studying and reading the Word. It Never fails to bless!!!

Hope all are having a good morning!
Blessings,
Linda

Good Morning Farmgirls!

Dh and I have made it to the gym all week. Yay to that! I'm down 4 pounds now. Phew!

As for chaos in the household - it remains. The kids are busy with homework and some also work. It's causing a lack of responsibility with chores and animals. I am just doing what I can today.

We are struggling financially this week Could use prayers for that. We still have the van parked and saving up for repair money (We are gradually building our emergency fund up, but it continues to get drained). We are out of wood, and wood pellets today. It's very cold in our house - 55°F in my kitchen this morning.

I have to head to the wood barn and see if we can cut anything for a few days (our supply was already very low this year). The temps will be down to 9 degrees this weekend. We have no wood on the porch, and no cut wood in the barn today.

I'm also considering closing the doors on my on-line store. It took me over 2 hours to crochet a shamrock bookmark and if I sell it for $5.00 it's not worth the hours I use to make it. The easiest items don't sell either. Our family needs extra income right now, so I'm entering a writing contest (winner gets $500.00, announced in March). It's out of the question to work outside the home considering my van is not running. I'm in the boonies, and too far from friends and family. I'm not even happy with the shamrock bookmark either. I don't think I'll even put it in my store. That's the point in which I start to self-loath - "oh poor me" "I can't get us out of this slump" "I'm not good at anything"

I'm trying not to worry, as worry wears me down and lets the devil in.

Laurie, you are so right about people getting caught up in the "poor me" syndrome. I can speak from experience, and it's easy to get "caught" into it. So...don't pity our family struggles this week, just please pray for us.

It's difficult when our teens are negative non-stop too.

Oh Kristina,
Prayers being said for you right now!
Life sometimes seems so difficult, but I guess when we look hard enough, we can see how fortunate we are. Things can always be worse. My immediate thoughts go to the poor remaining family of the Powells, and how any parent could ever bring themselves to that level. Each time I see more details emerge from that tragedy, it just makes my heart sink. Ugh.
So, like you, although there are many things that would be easy to "bring me down", I am choosing to focus on the GOOD and the POSITIVE. We have much to be thankful for, even though at times it is so hard to see.
Blessings to all of my sisters and their families, and whatever it is that they bring to the Lord, may their requests and needs be met.
Hugs,

~Laurie

Thanks Laurie,
I'm heading out to get wood pellets. I sure hope I remember how to start the wood splitter today - ha ha ha! I guess stopping at the thrift store is out today. Kids need jeans, but I'll have to wait now.

I better get moving, I see ds just went out to check the un-cut wood supply already. My hands are freezing....

Happy 50th Birthday Lea!!
I think turning 50 is a beautiful thing... I read this quote a few years ago and it really changed my perspective on aging..

I was typin away and the whole thing vanished. Perhaps it would have been taken wrong and shouldnt have been said:) Thank you for the birthday wishes. It has been a great day so far. Hang in there Kristina. The hotter the water the stronger the tea! Ask God to show you what is in the power of your hand right now He can use to meet your needs. In the past He showed my husband and I ways to not necessarily make more $ but spend less. Whatever your situation He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and you are His child. He will help you. We are praying for you. I heard a sermon once on the power women have in their homes. Do you know we set the mood of the family. I tested the theory and found it to be true. Resist the urge and voice positive encouraging happy comment and see if your teen agers dont gradually come around. Mine did.

Happy Birthday today Lea!
What wonderful words of wisdom you offer to all of us! And yes- I believe it to be true that our children feed off of our attitude etc. Sometimes it is difficult when they are pushing our buttons, but if we keep reminding ourselves to speak calmly and radiate peace, hopefully they will try and emmulate (spelling) us!
Blessings,

~Laurie

Kristina - as always, you are in my prayers! Everyone's allowed a "poor me pity party" every now and then. The important thing is that we don't let it drag us down like an anchor to the depths - and you don't! With your sunny, loving disposition and positive outlook, I doubt that will EVER happen! But you know when you feel like you might be going under, we're all here with hands reaching out to pull you back up to the surface! You're sunshine and light to all. You just ask for prayer any time you need it!!!

Lea - Happy birthday, again! How was your special big day? Did you do anything special to celebrate! I hope so! You deserve the best!!! Hugs and blessings to you!!!

Laurie - You absolutely made my day today!!!! YOU KNOW WHY!!! What a surprise! Thank you! Thank you SO much for sending your rays of sunshine my way! Love you, sister!!!

Hugs and blessings and joy, joy, JOY to you all!

...another quick update, as I should be putting my towels out on my clothesline already....

We broke the chainsaw, and didn't get more than one log cut yesterday. The upside, is we dug through the small pile and found enough smaller pieces to burn until Saturday so we can fix the chainsaw.

It's house payment week this week too.

I'll try to write more later. Both older teens worked until midnight, and dh worked late too. Another of my kids turned 18 today. Gosh I am feeling old. I feel like I gave birth to her last week.

Good morning, girls -

I'm praying with you for everyone, too, CJ! :)

I'm sorry, I'm just so out of the loop - the Powell's? Who are they? What happened?

Oh, Kristina - How blessed you are!!!! As I read your post, I kept thinking that the Lord has to be speaking to you in all of this, so you know He is mindful of you and your circumstances. I mean, when we look at the "big picture" (the big log pile), we can be so overwhelmed and feel we'll never "get there"... Yet when we look closer at the "little blessings" (the smaller pile) before us, we always find that He has already provided plenty enough to carry us through - we just didn't "see" it because we had been so caught up on the worrisome task at hand! Isn't that just the way?! I think He might be show you that you truly CAN trust Him completely in all of your circumstances, my friend; because He's definitely working on your behalf behind the scenes, and despite what you see around you (the overwhelming thought of the mortgage payment - and believe me, I "get" that!) and the trials you experience (i.e. the broken chainsaw when your family really needs wood for heat) He has everything under control. :) I know it's always so much easier said than done, isn't it? But to think you were so worried and then had this horrible thing happen with the chainsaw... and then when the dust settled, so to speak, you pulled yourself up by the bootstraps and literally started "picking up the pieces," you found that He already had everything you needed prepared and waiting right there in front of you! Oh! What a testimony!!! Such an incredible blessing!!! When we worry, it's so hard to see the good blessings, sometimes. But you never, ever, ever give up. What I love so much about you, Kristina, (next to that loving heart of yours) is your amazing strength to hold tight, keep positive and persevere! You are such an encouragement to me! No matter what happens, always remember what He said: "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" Matthew 6:26. That is one Scripture I have had to hold onto and press into many, many times in my life. I think what happened to you with the wood pile just may be the LORD's live example of His Word in action! What a wonderful affirmation to you of His steadfast love for you!!! And I do believe, my dear sister in Christ, that He might follow that Scripture to you with a reminder of these words He spoke as well: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10. May God bless you and your family today, and may He continue to send you and your family His miraculous provisions to aid you, lift you up, and affirm His profound Love and Concern for you! :)

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

There is such a calm peace in my home again this morning... I just love days like this! May it be the same for all of you today, as well!

Hugs -

Nini

1 Peter 2:1-3
"Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good."

I realize that what Peter said to get rid of... creeps in so easily as we are in the world. I pray that we may be nourished with the pure milk of the Word.

Sharing my morning devotion:

"Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your Paths." Psalm 25:4

"...to win in life is to do things God's way. Then, even if we don't get what we want, we have the great satisfaction of knowing we have obeyed His voice...that outlasts the satisfaction that come with any earthly possession or achievement."

Linda, I am so obtuse~ In trying to catch up on all the notes, I must of just scanned over the note of your Aunt. Yes, she is in the arms of Jesus, but the missing her is a pain of loss here this side of Heaven. May you feel comforted by His love and that of all your friends here and at home. You are such a support to others, may we carry some of your burden now!
