I'm so bummed....
The only day Mom can go to the see the sand sculpture is Thursday. I can't go that day. I have to pick up the newest addition to our farm, and take Brindle (baby goat) to the vet for disbudding. I may have to drive out there another day.

Nini- it's in Findlay, Ohio.

Have a blessed day ladies. Today the kids go back to school. I've enjoyed the "vacation" from the daily grind too.

It's chilly here, but I plan to take my devotional to the porch anyway. I just have to get one more kiddo off to school.

I've been deep cleaning, and getting some "order" in my home. Today I shared a before and after photo on my pioneer woman at heart blog. I'm taking Nini's advice and not overwhelming myself with anything - one little thing at a time.

Welcome Netty!

As a younger woman on the board I tend to lurk quietly and learn from my elders (These gals are serious godly woman role models!! Such sharp minds and such a love of the Holy Spirit!)

I'm so pleased everyone had a great Resurrection holiday!

If we are open to a new topic, I'd like to throw something out there;

A friend of mine is an atheist.... not simply an Atheist but an "anti-theist", essentially the "missionary class atheist."

It's clear she's got a serious grudge against God. She probably puts just as much energy into reading news stories from Huff post and athiest blogs and sharing them on facebook as I do in my daily devotionals and prayer life combined.

"Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing." ~Proverbs 12:18

It would be easy to denounce it, and call a spade a spade (it's close minded, biased; God-hating rhetoric is what it is. "All churches get rich by taking money from the stupid who believe them", "religious businesses and services are looking for an excuse to force their beliefs on others" "Christians want an excuse to deny health care to people who don't agree with them" etc. etc.)

Are you often confronted with militant atheism? How do you handle it?
I feel like all I can do is pray for her heart to soften enough, and for God to give me wisdom enough to be that example image of what a Christian woman is-- an intelligent woman embracing a Christ filled life.

Jen, my DS is into that mode. Not nearly so strident as that but in that mode none the less. What is interesting is that I heard David Demola this am speaking on the first chapters of Romans. Rom 1:19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. Rom 1:20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.Rom 1:21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.

In Chapter 2 Paul goe on to say that in any event we are not to judge where they are in relation to God. Romans 2:1 You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. He will judge everyone according to what they have done.
Rom 2:7 He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

I think sometimes that the people that are haranguing Christians are wanting Christians to shout back and tell them that they are horrible people who are going to hell, etc because it then justifies their position. I think that the best thing we can do is to pray for them and continue to minister out of love. They are looking for anger and hell fire in order to say "see, see! Look how judgmental you are."
Just this am my DS left a face book message for me that he was closer to being a Buddhist because it was all up to us. I replies very mildly to him. Nope, all that was up to us was to believe in a good God and the rest was up to Him.
No censure. I am even on fairly good terms with his GF who has been very difficult in the past which created major divisions in the family. But I am not going to attempt tell her how to fix stuff. I make a very poor Holy Spirit. I am continually praying that the HS will convict her of the things that need to change and the same for my DS. So in these cases I really do believe that prayer and gentleness are the best way to handle matters.
I also pray for those Christians who are stuck in the grip of the religious spirit and think that they can judge others. We simply do not have that right, only God can judge. So lots of prayer from my take on the matter.

Amen Cherime, It sure makes it tough on the rest of us to have to overcome such a noisy stereotype.

Welcome Netty and CJ6! Jen I didnt know your were a lurker lol:)This is one of my favorite MJ threads. These ladies truly care for each other. That is our greatest witness to an outside world. To love when you expect nothing in return. To let them see Jesus in us not just preached from us. My son has a close atheist friend and his pastors advice to him was dont talk religion just walk the walk and let him follow in your footsteps. I thought that was good advise. Prayer is powerful. Its not "all we can do is pray" but rather "WE CAN PRAY".Have a great day ladies!

Excellent advise Lea. Prayer is not all we can do, it is the absolute best thing we can do in all situations take it to the Lord. He wants to hear of our needs and praise reports gladden his heart.
I find that sometimes I have a hard time getting down to praying for specific things because I just cannot seem to get off of "Praise the Lord! All honor and glory to Him!"
Blessings ladies off and away.

Hi Netty and CJ....you will love it here. Many wonderful sisters to share your faith with.

Lea and Cherime...I couldn't agree more on your comments about "Prayer"!

One of our dear farm sisters sent me a book called "66 Love Letters" by Dr. Larry Crabb
In the Intro to this book he makes a statement that I have been pondering for a couple of
days now. It wasn't actually Dr. Crabbs statement but rather God's. It is from the book
of Hosea the 50th chapter the last part of verse 15. "...in their misery they will earnestly
seek me." At first I thought, oh how sad that it takes "a negative" to find "the positive" of life.
But on further pondering over a couple of days (you know how a Scripture will stick with you,
allowing you to meditate and merinate in it's God Truth)...well, I have come to the conclution
that that is exactly the purpose of our Desert Experiences. It always takes the difficult things
in life...for God to turn them into the good things in life...to strengthen us, build our character
and mature us in Him. It has always been the most difficult things in my life that have drawn
me closer to God, aligned my thinking with his, and grown me heart to heart with Him. So, I will
take all the "negatives" in the World...if they are going to bring me to a "God Positive" change
in my life. Amen?

blessings,
peggy

In the Hebrew studies we were talking about how God was disappointed with the nation of Israel for wanting an earthly king instead of being happy with God as their king. But you know he was probably expecting that defection. Earthly things do attempt to control us totally and it is so easy to give in because of our little earth tents. It is not easy to keep your eyes on spiritual things when a hang nail is bugging you. So how much more difficult is it when faced with major problems? It is hard work to be in this world but not of it. When facing major difficulties in our lives our first thought is usually "Oh God, what am I going to do?" not "Oh God, what are you going to do?" As Peter said, cast your cares on him because he cares for you. And if anyone ought to know it would have been Peter. I cannot imagine the valleys and the peaks he must have gone through between Good Friday and that morning when Jesus cooked fish for his breakfast. Peg, I do believe that you are correct, the wilderness places are opportunities to go to our Father's arms and do as John did on that night, lay our heads on his chest and love and be loved.

You know Chrime I had not thought of Peter and the Fri-Sun thing before. He is one of my favorites. I always wondered on the verse when the cock crowed and the scriptures say the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Luke 22:61 Wow. Cant you imagine that moment. Then you are right in a few days the Lord is cooking him breakfast. What a kind, great God we serve!

Oh....boy...
Today's devotion was so right no the mark and something I needed to read - conviction.

This past weekend was so stressful. Dh forgot his bank card in the ATM in a town 1 hour from our house....then took mine (in a town nearby) and put in the wrong number, locked up the acct, then tried a bank nearby (not our bank) and it sucked in my card. I called today and they said I have to order myself a new one (the other bank is to destroy mine), but dh has to drive back to pick up his own card. After all this hoopla, I'm ready to go back to using cash everywhere. Sheesh. And that was just the small stuff this past weekend.

I often (past weekend) felt under "attack" and am doing a lot of praying here today. I don't feel like cleaning, but need to. Ever have a day when you just don't care about the messes? If my son wasn't home, I would probably just sit and look at today. He's bugging me about that book I am supposed to be writing right now. Ha ha ha!

It's rainy and windy, but I plan to take my Bible to the porch before the kids get home.

I am trying to get myself a "writing" schedule down, to write my novel. It's so hard, but with God's guidance, I will figure something out soon....

Yes, Kristi, I certainly understand that dilemma. For me, it turns into a time to re-evaluate what I'm doing and my motivation for doing . . or not . . . doing it. Many times I end up taking a break from the humdrum and do something for someone else . . . it helps me get my focus back.
I'm praying!

All great solutions ladies! I love to keep christian music playing all the time. In my kitchen mostly because I spend so much time there. And if Satan really gets me down...I get up and dance and sing and
chase him away...praising God. He hates that!!!

So sorry for your loss Lea, adding prayers.

Great ideas ladies - music all day is a good idea for me. I'm motivated by it.

I got some cleaning done, but today is a busy one again. Hit the gym at 5am, came home and cooked up eggs with veggies for breakfast, put chili in the crock pot, towels on the line and it's 8am already. Vet comes out today too. Our billy needs his horn cut again. Kids are really slacking on their chores so I need to get back on them for that too. I once watched wife swap with the younger two. One wife was a clean freak, the other a messy - both extremes. The next day my 12 yo dd was in cleaning mode big time. I think we could watch another episode to remind them - ha ha ha!

....making time for devotions/Bible reading even if I have to leave the kitchen a mess to do it.

Have a blessed day!

Do you ever get stuck in a rut with worry?

I did it again last night. Sigh....

You know, where one worry, starts another worry and before you know it, you are worrying about a bazillion things?

I really need to work on this. It's a struggle for sure.

The vet came last night and he suggested a total dehorning of our billy goat. I started to worry about him surviving it, then worried how we'd drive him there without a trailer, worried about the distance, the cost, where would we come up with the cash, and worried and worried. I didn't get much sleep over it either, but still went to the gym this morning at 5am.

I am starting to catch myself when I get into these modes, but still, it's a struggle.

I'm reading my devotions and Bible, but are there other books out there that I could read maybe?

Would love to hear your opinions.

Have a blessed day!
