MY new favorite: radishes can be sliced thinly and fried up like potatoes. My husband ate them once and thought they were fried baby red potatoes. Little did he know... :)

I haven't tried this yet but it sounds good :)

My Mom used to cook turnip, mash it and serve with butter, salt and pepper. I wonder if it could be frozen before seasoning?

I like to make mashed potatoes, with turnips mashed in. Also, I made a really, really, really yummy dutch oven full of roasted root vegetables, that had some turnips in it. I cut up beets, turnips and something else- forgot what- tossed with olive oil, garlic, salt and fennel. Roasted in the oven maybe at 425 with the lid on for 35 minutes. It was really good- could be seasoned differently, of course.
We used to go crazy for a slaw at one of the local Mexican restaurants in our old town. It was in the salsa bar as a garnish, but I'm afraid we ate it as salad-
It was made of shredded or thinnly sliced and chopped radishes and cabbage, with cilantro, lime juice, salt, and I don't know what all. What I remember is that it was SOOOO good!

I remember reading recipes for radishes and turnips in the book, "Complete Book of Pickling" by Jennifer MacKenzie.

Turnips also taste good, finely chopped and added to lentil soup.

You can make "fries" with turnips as well.

We boil turnips and mash them with our garden potatoes and add chives.
