I have a freezer full of (given to me) frozen blueberries - picked, washed, and bagged in 4 C. ammounts. The deal is, the skins are tough and make them unappetizing. I made a cobbler the other day - peach and handfuls of random berries - blueberries, blackberries, raspberries - for added flavor. My husband complained about the texture of the blueberries - to the point he spit the skins to the side. They are THAT tough. What causes this? What can I do about it? These are farm grown, watered, and are wonderful fresh. Something about the freezing just makes them thick. Any ideas what do to with them now?

Hmmm. Never had that happen with my blueberries, Holly. I wonder if they got too hot in the growing? Or not enough acid in the soil. Either way, you could make blueberry jelly. That would be really good.
