Does anyone volunteer at a nature or ecological reserve? I volunteer at a reserve near my home in So. Calif. I hand out trail maps collect day use fees walk the trails on patrol, I even get to carry a walkie talkie and yes answer questions like "are there wild animals out there?" Ah it's the WILDERNESS?" . Does any volunteers have any funny or unusual stories to share about her experience?

I volunteer each summer at a 1930s farm on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is soooo beautiful up there. We have a garden and tell the visitors about life on an Appalachian farm. No electricity, no running water. A spring house for our water/refrigerator. I just love it.

I think volunteering at a nature preserve or park would be so much fun. We are moving back to Indiana in about two weeks and will be just a few miles from Brown County State Park. I'm going to see if there's any volunteer opportunities there. Debra, you are so lucky to live near the Parkway and volunteer there. It is such a beautiful part of the country. We try to drive it every year.

Great opportunity! There are similiar opportunities in my neck of the woods. I do some volunteer work for our local horse rescue.
