This is the first time in years I've been home to do a Thanksgiving and I'm trying to remember everything. Friends are coming over but not sure how many. Doesn't really matter because next-day leftovers are great, so no worries there.

I have bought a huge turkey (Butterball), cranberry sauce (both kinds), gravy, stuffing, green veggies (green beans), mashed potatoes. Still want to get pies, pumpkin and maybe apple. Will have coffee, tea, soda and probably wine for drinks.

I'm missing something, what is it??

***UPDATE***

Well, it went off without a hitch except I forgot the mashed 'taters!! All of us sat down and I kept feel like I had forgotten something, then hubby mentioned it. I was going to make up a batch but everyone said to stay put, we had plenty as it was, and we sure did.

The Butterball turkey was the absolute best I've ever eaten! Almost ruined it because after covering it with foil for the third baking time, somehow the oven was turned up to almost 500 degrees!! But, thankfully, it had the foil on it and really didn't suffer any overcooking. The tips of the wings were a little too baked but overall, still in great shape.

We are eating leftovers now. I think leftovers are almost the best part of a turkey dinner.

Good friends came over and we laughed and told stories and basically chatted about everything under the sun. Now, this is the way to do a holiday!! Have people over who you enjoy, whether friends or fam, and not people (whether friends or fam) who try to ruin it for you and cause problems. Now we have happy memories of my first big Thanksgiving where I did all the cooking/baking. Hubby cleaned the house within an inch of its' life and I was sort of embarrassed it was that dusty but he knew he wasn't marrying Suzy Homemaker when he married me!!

So, other than forgetting the mashed 'taters, everything was beyond perfect!!

I hope everyone else's Thanksgiving was really nice and enjoyable!!

I would get some nice rolls, too. We love Kings Hawaiian. Sounds like you've got a great Turkey Day planned! Good luck!

Thanks!! Rolls are something I'd forgotten! Duh! *slaps forehead* Which means, I need to check for how much butter needed. On Thanksgiving and Christmas, I don't skimp, go for the real thing. Now is not the time for my diet to get in the way. Heh!

I really like home made pumpkin pie and it is really easy!

We usually like a green salad-our traditional salad for special dinners is layered-lettuce, other veggies as well if wanted-my dh likes seedless cucs, frozen peas, canned sliced water chestnuts, mayo, crumbled bacon, white shredded cheese-I like five italian cheese, but also do mozzarella sometimes.

And sweet potato casserole is a favorite.

Yep, rolls and sweet potatoes are the only things I see missing! Most of all, enjoy yourselves!

Yep, have sweet 'taters already. Matter of fact, they are here year around. Hubby's head is spinning with all my bustling around. Actually, I think he's pretty proud of me for doing this.

SarahJ, I'll take a look later today. Thank you for the invite!!

Crikey. I just now thought I have to get a roasting pan. I have one but it's not near big enough. Okay, something else for my list. :-)

Welp, I found a disposable huge roasting pan. I was going to buy a real one but I'd only use it once a year, so went with the heavy foil looking ones. Actually, the big roaster didn't look like it would be tall enough for the turkey once it's inside, so this way, I can tent with heavy foil and all will be well.

So, I think I have everything ready to go!! Yay me!!

Egg nog, maybe, Winona? And like Teri and Marianne said, we definitely do appetizers, too... Cheese and crackers, whole nuts to crack (keeps the kids busy), stuffed celery, devilled eggs, stuffed grape leaves, pickles, etc.

It sure does sound like you have a wonderful menu going! I don't think you really "need" to add anything! But we do like a fruited jello salad, pickled beets, applesauce, mashed turnip and carrot (with sliced lemons on the side) and a salad, too, like Heather mentioned. Seven-layered salad is always our holiday tradition! :) I'm like you - I like to have the leftovers. My holiday dinners always sound like overkill, but everyone is always happy to take home a big container full. Do you have take-home containers for your guests???

I'm so glad you found a roaster! I made a turkey the other night and the roaster was definitely NOT big enough. Went to check on it and when I pulled out the rack, greasy drippings went everywhere and the entire house filled with smoke. Not fun. Not fun at all.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving - it sounds like you're going to have a wonderful feast and celebration!

Hugs -
