Is anyone on here a guidance counselor, therapist or social worker that works primarily with elementary aged students??? My hubby is working on his master's degree in Biblical Counseling and needs to interview someone next week (can do it via e-mail). He has to turn in a name by this Sunday. He has tried to get ahold of someone here locally, but they will not return his calls. With us homeschooling, he doesn't know anyone at the schools, and with having a newborn, he has not been able to run around to different locations. Can anyone help??? Thanks!

Maybe contact the local school board? Wish I could help.

My husband now works with schizophrenic, bi polar, and other atypical functioning adults, but he used to be a case worker for children and adolescents with behavioral (and I think some developmental) abnormalities. Would that work?

I love this kind of stuff! Child psychology is such a fascinating subject. I have my degree in psychology and loved every minute of it. Erin, I am so jealous of your husband. That would be a fun job and very intriguing.

Krista, that's hilarious! Of course he never names names, but he's got some stories. I could never ever in a million years do what he does. I do not have the patience for that.

Erin, I bet he does! I can only imagine the kind of people he has had the pleasure to work with. It has always been a dream of mine to meet someone with schizophrenia. Totally random, I know. I remember that I couldn’t wait for the class in which we got to touch a real brain. It was awesome!! What exactly does your husband do?

I use to work in an assisted living facility for the mentally challenged.... My heart aches for those that live in two worlds...

Krista - what did you go to school for? I use to love Anatomy classes for the dissections :)

Well you see Shannon….. I say I went to school to get my degree in school! Ha ha I have way too many degrees and certificates because I want to do everything. But for the sake of this, I have my bachelors in psychology and a minor in child development. I was planning on becoming a child psychologist. I soon realized it was hard for me to leave what happens to children at work and not bring that home. I develop too much of an attachment. I never did any dissections. I just had the opportunity to hold different parts of the human brain. I have a huge fascination with the human brain. (Another potential career I wanted…)

:) I always joke I am a professional student :) I have my degree in nursing - and am a inactive registered nurse. I also have a BS in Biology with a minor is psychology and chemistry. I wanted to go to medical school to be a pediatrician, specializing in immunology and infectious disease, but a good friend, who is an OB, told me with my personality I would burn out... giving 100% to family and 100% to work, and being unable to separate them. He was right! Since having my own children, I have determined I can probably never go back to work as a pediatric nurse. It would destroy me!

It’s so true. We really are professional students! Wow, that is awesome. You would make a great pediatrician. The medical field is hard for me. I’m not a fan of shots and could never ever draw blood. But I do agree with your friend. It’s very hard to separate and there is no way I could do it either.
I addition I also have a minor in interior design, a certificate in drafting, and I am a licensed nail tech.
I believe I am done… for now!
