I guess I will put this under this subject because we wanted a pickup that would run without any computer type components. My husband and I purchased this pickup about two years ago and has been a work in progress. It will be a daily driver and not perfect by a long shot. I figured the pickup didn't need to be because at 62 years old not many of us come out unscathed. I am shining her up, but not going to give her a new paint job. I visualize this ol' gal as a soul that gets gussied up to go town on Saturday nights. She has seen a lot of good times and bad times and for sure has weathered more than her share. Hubby is helping me get the last 5% done and she will be on the road to garage sales, auctions, feed houses to pick up chicken feed, etc. I just got done with the inside (save one flourish I want to stencil on the dashboard) and love it. It is not perfect, but it is mine. Kudos to my husband through this whole process, I could not have done it without him. The box is almost ready to put on. I can't wait. Here are some pictures of the most recent progress.

Yes, it has been a blast. I love to create and craft. Crazy as it sounds I hate it when a project is over. BUT, I will be happy when I can drive this with a box on the back.

Thanks everyone. We tried to keep it original. We did have to put new wood in the bed because the original was past rotten. I hope by this weekend we can take it out for a Sunday drive.

Getting closer to having her done. We need to put the spare tire on, work with the starter a bit, get the ins. and put on my original tag. I am so excited to start driving it. I can now officially haul all my own treasures, much to my husband's disdain!!!!! He thinks I bring home to much the way it is, LOL.

Oh my GOSH, Kem! I am IN LOVE!!! You may or may not remember me sharing this before, but our getaway car when we got married was an old '49 Chevy one ton that my husband restored himself! Man, you have brought back memories today - even brought a smile to his face! Thank you so much for sharing! ENJOY! Enjoy every single minute! I am so happy and excited for you all! And that wooden bed is beautiful! BEAUTIFUL! Hugs - Nini

Nini, do you still have a picture to share of the 49 Chevy? I would love to see it again. The weather was beautiful in Ks yesterday so I went out and did a photo shoot of my pickup. Here is a better shot of Holiday. Need to add the spare tire and a few minor things and then it will be ready to drive to town!!!!! Can hardly wait to play the part.

Love it! It's always (since I was 16) been my dream to have an antique pickup. For now, I am settling on antique sewing machines. What a treasure you have! Enjoy!

Nicole, I hope some day you can have a vintage pickup. It brings back so many memories, smells, and feeling from when my grandpa would pick me up and take me to the farm with him. I loved those days. The rattle of the doors, smell of oil and grease, wind in my hair..... not everyone's dream, but one of mine.

Nicole, my husband tells me I over describe everything. Well, I guess my need to express details and create a scene is very important in my writing or verbal descriptions. It is funny how all those memories, smells, and sounds came flooding back to me with I got in and drove Holiday to town for the first time. I was transported back in time to my grandpa's pickup. He even rolled is own cigs and I could almost smelled the smoke. I am so grateful for all those memories, ones I will never forget.

Thanks for reigniting this post April! I'm in love with Kem's pick-up too (or ute as we call them here in Australia!). I have my eye on a beautiful old morris minor car. My mother had a morris as her first car and I have always wanted one. Glad to hear that there are still plenty of "old souls" out there.

Oh Cindy, Yes!! I believe in old souls... and, I've always felt as though I was born in the wrong era! I had to google your morris minor car and oh my goshshshshs!!! I love those little cars, never knew what they were called. A little british darlin' -- I just recently found out I'm British and Scottish! Guess I better brush up on my ancestry! P.S. I adore the white walls! :-)

Kem, your truck is beautiful! You did great getting it up and going. I love the looks of all oldies trucks and car.

Cindy, I too had to look that car up. Those are beautiful cars too! They need to start making all the oldies again! I would be the first to buy one!
