OK, so I was out working (cleaning) in the Aristocrat.. When I looked at the blah old plug plates... Well as you know, I can't leave anything unadorned or blinged...
So with some Mod Podge... Voila' cute plug plates...
I had just enough fabric scraps to deco these...

lori,, scrap booking paper, gift wrap, fabric,, if you can glue... you can do it! I used white glue to adhere the fabric, let it dry then a thick coating of Mod Podge, let it dry and then I sprayed a coat of varnish on to seal it. In a pinch, I have used clear nail polish to seal small decopauged items, just takes a bit longer to dry. Now to have fun..
Oh, and you could print a favorite photo, or sheet music.. ah, the ideas are endless,, and then glue on some ribbon, bling, glitter, button.. what ever your fancy...

These outlet covers are so fun and perfect for a unique decor! The simplicity of doing this project makes it a great little inexpensive gift too . With my love of apples, I should make a couple for my office area!

Grace those are so cute, way to go! Years ago, I did all the switches in my Mom's kitchen/dining room with the fronts of seed packages. They looked so nice, I should do my own now! Thanks for posting :-) |

Grace, do you cut your edges after you glue it on? If so do you use an exacto knife?

Krista, I cut the corners like I do fabric, 90" corner, then glue the corners down and fussy finger press the edge down till it stays in place.. Also I use wooden clothes pins to 'clamp' down the fabric/paper along the edges, till dry enough to remove the clothes pins. I use Tacky glue, but you could use a glue gun(very sparingly) to temp hold the paper/fabric in place.

Thanks Grace! I'm still waiting for the perfect fabric or paper that sticks out to me. I'm going to put it in my craft room!

Our house has more than the average amount of outlets. Ever since I seen what you have done with yours I have been thinking of ideas. I have some wonderful antique books that have fallen apart and the pages are all loose. I think I will use those books to make mine.
When all else fails, look up

Those are too cute. I love the idea. Will have to try this out.
Lori, Love the idea of using antique books! My brain is going a mile a minute.

Love them! We have some in Gidget with a "vintage camper" theme. You and I must be cut from the same cloth, girlie!

I've covered all the ones in my house, except the one Gracie made me. I used scrapbook paper and clear adhesive backed shelf paper. HOWEVER, those I did for Gracie are finished with about three coats of Mod Podge. I use Alleene's tacky white glue to glue the scrapbook paper to the plate and let it dry good. When using the Mod Podge, let it dry well between coats. CJ

I want to cover out plug plates when I get time. One thing I noticed about this place when we moved in was the amount of outlets. We have a TON off them. I'm not complaining as I never have to worry about finding one that I can use. What I'm thinking about now is, " Holy cow!!!! It's going to take forever to cover all of these". LOL

When my husband remodeled a bedroom into a sewing room I made covers using the curtain fabric.
