Grace, I don't send from the forum. I have been emailing you directly from my email. Well at least you have the correct address and I have yours but that is so strange that you didn't get mine when I hit reply from your first one. It would have gone to the email you sent from. Something must be happening out in cyberspace or with your email provider.

Denise,, could be.. we have terrible cell service here as well... no repeater stations near by so cell has to ping off of several others to get to us.. 1/2 the time my phone goes straight to voice mail instead of direct ring.. uugh! Plus living near the Air Force Base,, when they are doing lots of manuvers or high profile people are being flown in,, our cell goes to bupkis!

I have had several messages from MJF sisters this morning, so I know for now my inter net is working... key word,, for now! lol!
Have a good morning/noon time your time.. I am back to major laundry day,, I live such an exciting life! lol!

Just a reminder to ladies participating in MJF swaps, if you don’t get an address from someone via email immediately, please be patient and wait for your swap partner to reply. Not everyone is comfortable with contacts outside the chatroom, so respect their privacy by waiting for their reply here. And remember, sometimes life gets in the way and you might not receive a reply as soon as you want.

Thanks for participating in our swaps!

Grace, Yours is cut out and being sewn today. I am shooting for Friday mail out. As long as all goes well with my machine. It can be testy at times. Hoping today is not one of those times!

Hey Denise,, I 'sew' understand,,, about 'testy' machines... my sort of new ones can give me a fit,, while my old Singer 401, 406 & my featherweight.. are just work horses...
Have fun sewing.

I agree. Those old machines just keep running. I like Singer models 15, 66, 99, and 201. I have a Jones CS from 1893 that was my go-to machine before I got my Bernina.

I have a Jones hand crank, 2 Singer 221 Featherweights, 2 301s, 2 128s, 1 302 (I think), a Franklin treadle in a parlor cabinet, a late 1800s Wilcox and Gibbs chain stitch treadle, and several others. LOL!

I forgot about the 28 and 128. Got them too. Also Wilcox and Gibbs hand crank and treadle. Love them but wish the chain stitch was a little bigger cuz I would love to do some decorative stitching with it. Got a 222?

yep, the 222 are hard to find because of the removable arm plate to work on cuffs etc..

my only fuss about the 221 is that the bobbins are so small.. and I have to wind them more often.. oh Wah! lol!

I agree the bobbins are too small, but those machines are just so cute and they sew well (unless you get a thread caught behind the bobbin case.) I found a 222 at a reasonable price about 15 years ago. Even with shipping from England it was cheaper than buying here. I'm now looking into changing the 220 motor to a 110 so I don't keep burning out the light.
Did you know there is now a LED light for featherweights? Really nice so you don't burn your hand reaching through the arm.

The makers of leather sewing machines have the bobbin thing figured out...perhaps. Of course they sew with heavier thread...but the bobbins are larger ... Like 70% larger!
Of course most are made in Japan.

Some leather sewing machines, probably the newer ones have big bobbins. DH has a 1920 Singer for leather and the bobbin is about the same size as my domestic machine. It was made in the USA. I guess they finally got smart since thread for sewing leather is much thicker than our Coats and Clark and the little bobbins don't hold much.

I received the most adorable apron from Linda (quiltee). The pattern is so unique, the fabric the cutest farm animal print, and the workmanship perfection. All the girls in my office and I love it !! The picture I took just doesn't do it justice. Maybe Linda has one she can share.

Ida Jane -

I didn't take a picture of the apron I sent you. Please take a picture of you in the apron and post that. I'm happy you like the apron. I love that pattern and the fact it is reversible. It is my go-to apron pattern.

My husband just brought in the mail today and I received the apron you made me, Ida Jane. I love the colors and the heavier fabric, the pockets, and the added bee and flowers. I will have Ed take a picture of me in it later and post. So glad iy arrived safely.

Hey Denise,,, your apron is in the mail and should arrive on Tuesday 7/21
I won't be able to get into town until Tuesday, but will hit our P.O. 1st thing that morning to receive the apron you sent to me...

Hubby and I have been up to our eyeballs in digging up and transplanting 30 year old Lilac bushes, some are over 7ft tall, to their new location.
Also running new drip lines and grading part of our property,,, getting ready to put in a new driveway..
I swear, every joint and muscle in my body aches!
But oh how cute I will look in my new 'Denise Original' Apron and drinking my 'Motrin Coctails'... lol!

I'll be sure to post a photo when I get it. :>)

I'm glad you'll post a photo. I forgot to take one before I sent it.

Better get out Epsom salts and take a nice long soak.
