For Intermediate level Her-Story, I researched Harriet Tubman. She was born in 1822, Maryland She was an American abolitionist Harriet served as an armed spy and scout during the Civil War as well as a nurse and cook. She led 2 armed raids which freed over 770 slaves She was a big part of the Underground railroad and participated in the Women's Sufferage Movement

Candy, PBS has a wonderful story about Harriet Tubman that they played last Fall, I think. You might try looking at the PBS online site and see if you can find a way to watch itt. It was several episodes long and a detailed account of her many accomplishments. She is an American Heroine for sure!! Enjoy reading more about her very influential and important life.

Candy, Harriet Tubman truly was a courageous and amazing woman - someone we can all find strength from and look up to! Thank you for sharing these fun facts. LOVE this! Hugs - Nini

The movie "Harriet" was good, too. I thought it was well made. There were aspects to her story that were in that movie that I had never known about her.
So many amazing women who have contributed SO much to our history. I love this badge...it made me go looking for some influential women and I seriously never thought about the vast number of events and inventions that happened because of courageous women who started out, usually, as just women like all of us who saw a need and stepped up to fill it.
