How sad our school systems didn't teach us about this plight of orphaned, abandoned children.

True Grace! Really need to teach history to our children so we don't repeat these things.

It is very sad that many important parts of our history are not taught. And also it seems that people think that removing statues will negate part of our history - history has already happened, removing a statue will not change what has happened in the past. However, teaching about what happened in the past can change what happens next.

Grace, does your apron have 3 tiers? Was wondering if the top or bottom tiers are the feedsack material? They both look like they could be.

I finished part of my swap getting ready to do the rest.

Oops?! I just realized,, I should have placed the apron on a solid surface..
The red-blue fabric is the apron, with deep pockets. The sheer floral fabric is a different apron underneath.

That is a sweet apron. Love the fabric.

I am still working on my swap. Hope to get it done in the next few days so I can get it out to Heather.

Grace, I’m so glad that you liked your goodies. I was very nervous…as I’m not the best seamstress. I had a lot of fun making everything for you!!

I’ll be looking for my package in the coming days…some days our mail carrier delivers our mail, and some days they don’t. I will let you know when I get it!!

Ladies, thank you for your kind words. I created the apron based on a free Home Depot kids apron. :) My first attempt at sewing with no pattern.

Karen :)

Well, after reading two sad, sad books about Depression Era orphans, I needed a little "pick me up". So last night we watched "Annie". . . a delightful feel good film. And just like Annie sang "the sun will come out tomorrow" -- it did! I woke up to glorious sunshine this morning. We were dazed and amazed again at these talented little kids who play the adorable urchins. Wonderful, wonderful toe tapping music throughout.
OK, now I'm inspired, sew I'm off to the studio to work on my feedsack project . . . if only I had a little girl to make a feedsack dress for. . . .

Whoop!! Dianna, your box arrived yesterday and I loved what you came up with!!! The scrap kitty is the cutest idea and just adorable. Here is what I found in my box: The feedsack kitty that has a Valentine heart around his neck, pockets stuffed with sewing notions, and these very cool fabric clips or possibly paper clips for crafts, an embroidery hoop with a pouch all made with the feedsack that I can hang up and stuff with all sorts of things, large paperclips adorned with ribbon and flowers which would work as bookmarks or any sort of place holder, darling kitty dishtowel ,Spring Issue of Country Woman, very cool Vintage pattern for beach wear, a couple of chocolates which have already been broken into by the resident farmboy that lives here, and one of Dianna's beautiful handcrafted Valentine's Day card!! OH my, what a wonderful time I had checkin out every item ! Thank-you Dianna for everything!! You really did come up with some fantastic and wonderful ideas for this swap and I am going to enjoy using everything!!
