Any one have tips on how to grow strawberries? My dad gifted me one for Mother’s Day. It’s in one of those hanging pots. It hasn’t produced any strawberries and doesn’t actually look the greatest. My mom got a strawberry plant too and her looks good and has produce strawberries. We aren’t doing anything different. Why would mine not be doing so good and how can I change that?

No help with container strawberries. I have a bed with my strawberries.
When they are done with berries, you can till around the edge or the middle and add in peat moss. It keeps the soil lighter. Your containers might have too much water, not enough, be root bound hard to say. You could try repotting and see what happens.

I don't have any advice either but my mother in law put some in a tower and they're not doing the best either. The berries are tiny! I thought it might be the weather - it went from cool and wet to crazy hot.

Thanks Michelle. I’ll try that out and see if it helps.

Heather, I was wondering if that was possibly the problem. We have much colder temps at my home then my parents house. Also the other thing I was thinking about is that we have horrible winds all the time. Maybe they don’t like wind.

I don't know about wind but I know they don't like raccoons! They toppled my mother in laws tower over last night - I'm guessing they were trying to climb it and it doesn't support their weight. They're annoying little boogers. They like to get the fruit before I do - not just the berries, but the grapes, pears, etc.

Oh my goodness. Those darn raccoons. I’m sorry they a wrecking havoc on your strawberry plants. I don’t think raccoons are the problem and hopefully they don’t become the problem lol. We left for a few days to go camping and my neighbor seemed to have forgotten to water it. Now it looks worse. I’m really babying it to see if it can pull out of this issue.
