Hello, farmgirls! Just signed on to introduce myself (Brian just added me a couple of days ago)and I apologize for the delay, the garden and yard needed tending for the past couple of days. However, after logging on, I must admit that I was a bit shocked. So many of the henhouses do not have any recent postings! I instantly noticed that a few of you do still post here though . Well a little about me.....I live on a small hobby farm in Missouri (just outside of Bolivar), but was born and raised a city girl. I moved out here a little over a year ago and I LOVE it! As for myself, I have always been creative and crafty. I love embroidery and cross-stitch and just discovered the joy of sewing! I am also a online student in the photography department at Academy of Art University. Oh and I also play violin/fiddle! Well that sounds like a good generalization of me, I hope some of you are still on here! Have a great Memorial Day weekend girls! Hugs, Heather Nicole

Welcome, Heather. I grew up north of Bolivar at Collins, Missouri. Which way from Bolivar do you live? I have lived in Kansas since 1981. My mother still lives in Butler and my brother lives near Nevada. My older sister lives in the KC area and my younger sister lives in the state of California. I have some relatives that live in Bolivar.

Hello Katherine! I live just south of Bolivar, right in between it and Brighton. I attended a semester at Cottey College, so I'm familiar with the Nevada area as well! My parents had always lived in Springfield (they moved to Bolivar as well), my mother still has family members that do, but the majority of them live in Mansfield. Some of father's side lives up near Mansfield as well, with the others spread out near Joplin and Halltown. We are the oddballs! It's wonderful to hear from others who are from this general area of the Ozarks! Have a safe and wonderful Memorial day! Hugs, Heather Nicole

I've been to Mansfield a couple times. The first time was in jr. high, when we visited the Laura Ingalls museum.

Welcome Heather, so glad to have you joining us. We are fairly new as it is. Still getting information out to everyone. Check all the post in the different forums. Right now I'm working on getting us a scrapbook together. Would love it if you could send me a page or two. After reading all the post and if there is any questions either post or email me. I'll try to help you out the best I can (we are all still learning) and if I can't answer your question we'll find someone who can. Just start jumping in, we love hearing everyones thoughts, and have fun!

Hugs, Brenda

Hey everyone! I'm back after being out of town for a few days. All your warm welcomes just brightened my day, especially after a rainy morning! And I completely understand getting everything up and running, it takes a while. No worries, you'll get it all done in time. I'm going to check out what you girls are doing on the Shopping Green badge and will try to jump right in! Linda, as to getting to one of the Little House sites I am unsure at this time if I will get a chance to join up with the group, I'll let you know though! Oh and Brenda I will be emailing you about the scrapbook pages! It is pretty crazy around here this time of year with the gardening! Hugs!

I haven't been on for a couple days because lightening took out our modem, wireless router and a desktop. Luckily, I didn't have this laptop plugged up. I should have got up and unplugged things.

I usually unplug when there is close lightening but did not make myself get up the other night. I may think about unplugging it every night as long as it is just Kenny and I at home. When our older daughter is home she may stay up later than us and be on the computer.

Greetings to all the Farmgirls:

My hubby finally was able to get the garden in. When I read and farmgirls are talking about putting in their gardens, and we have to wait, and wait, and wait. It is in, so now we hope and pray that the grasshoppers, hail and too much rain and not enough sunshine will keep our little garden from coming up.

We put in: sweet corn, ornamental (indian) corn, radishes, carrots, red onions, pumpkins, squash, (buttercup) the super large pumpkins, beets, cucumbers, green beans, tomatoes, (numberous types) bell peppers, hot pepers (numerous types) strawberries. Our area is 40 X50 - so my hubby will be busy. I will help when my health allows. So now the fun begins.

We finished our flower bed that we started last fall - got the weeds out for now and flowers planted. We have chickens and turkeys to help with the grasshopper population. So you ladies know what we will be doing this fall - you got it - plucking turkeys. We added 36 different type of chickens this year. They are so cute right now. I know we will not run out of eggs.

So today Iwill be working on quilting a quilt, and making my pillow cases to donate to the local quilt shop for the month. So far I have donated 35 - my goal is 100 by the end of the year.

So that what is going in my corner of the world. Next week I start radiation - there I said it - I am one of the many women that has received the call and been informed that I have breast cancer. I will go through 6 weeks of radiation - and life will go one. Some days are harder then others. Yesterday my granddaughter said "Grandma when are the doctors going to fix your awee". So as I laid on the table as they took the last pictures needed yesterday, that is what kept my spirits up and kept me from crying.

Have a Great Day Farmgirls across the USA.

Kathy, I have had a fried computer once from lightning, not fun, just unplug it before bed! Trust me! Glad to hear the laptop, your family and you are all safe! The storms across Kansas just haven't let up much lately! Here in Missouri we have been enjoying the rain from the remenants of your storms. Actually we are supposed to have more rain today, but it will be a welcome break from the heat! Just stay safe!

Viola, you are in my prayers through this journey you are on. Know that we are here for you and we will listen when you just need to talk. Stay strong girlfriend, but know that it is ok to ask for help. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
