Hello, everyone! I'm your newest member - a city girl turned country wife and loving every minute of it! My DH have a blended family of 5 girls and 2 boys and are living in central Indiana. We have cows, chickens, goats, dogs, cats and one guinea pig in our menagerie. I absolutely love this group of sisters and am so looking foward to getting to know you all. My hobbies are any and every kind of needlework, gardening, reading and learning new things. Right now, I am taking a Master Food Preserver class to finally get over my fear of the pressure canner - I mean, there must have been some reason all the kids were chased out of the kitchen when one was on the stove, right? I collect fabric and yarn and expect to add alpacas to the farm soon too. I love to spin on my wheel and am so excited that maybe soon I will be raising my own fiber animals. I've earned beginner badges in Tatting, Backyard Farmer, Knitting, and Know your food. I'm so looking forward to hearing from you...

Starletta, So glad you are with us, we have a great group of girls. Summer has been rather slow but now that everyone is settled down and back from all the summer trips and children in sports we have some fun things planned. Just jump right in and if there's something that interest you that you think we'd all like to do together, just mention it and we'll see what we can do. You sound like a very busy lady, I understand the fear of the pressure canner. I just think it takes time to get use to it. Theres nothing like putting up fresh veggies. Have you ever made jelly or jam? That really interest me, will try it maybe next year. Be sure to keep in touch. You never know when there will be another post you don't want to miss.

Hugs,Brenda

Ladies, how about we repost our bios? MJF lets them go if there are not new postings periodically. My name is Linda and I moved to Wichita from the hi-desert area of Calif. last year. HUGE adjustment that I am still working on, but, it is getting easier little by little. I have 4 grown kids, and 5 grandchildren. Even though I live in an apt now in city? I LOVE all things country, farm and ranch! Years ago in Calif, we had chickens, ducks, pot belly pig, briefly a goat, and at one time a pony. Always, dogs and cat! This year on my apt balcony I grew a few containers of mostly herbs. Love using them in cooking. It may seem simple and small, but it is fun to go out there and snip off what I need!! Starletta, I have a spinning wheel that was my aunts. I hope to soon, figure out how to use it!! There are local alpaca farms where I could get fiber to spin!Welcome back ladies, let's have a great fall together!! ALSO, check out The Little House Book Club that Amy is doing too. Blessings, Linda

Starletta, I am Kathy from Rock, Kansas which is near Wichita. I haven't met Linda but I hope to soon. I have met Lulu. I was born in Missouri and grew up on a farm. I have too many hobbies; cross-stitch, embroidery, loom knitting, sewing, watercolor painting, and a little photography and scrapbooking. I do a little gardening. My husband and I like to camp and do target shooting.

I actually conquered my fear of the pressure canner this weekend and put up 14 quarts of spaghetti sauce. Hooray!!! I also made my first batch of jelly at my son's request because the Mom of one of his friends made jelly out of Mountain Dew so I got the recipe--weird way to jump into jellymaking but he likes it and the biggest fun of food preservation is seeing people enjoy your work. :-)

Hi, Lillian. I actually used the instructions that were printed in this years Ball Blue Book because the instructions that came with my canner were very hard to understand. Do you have access to that book? I think they print one every year and am positive that the instructions will be in any of their books.

Well here goes my bio. I grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, A City Girl! Married a farm boy and moved here at P.H. Mo. Have been here 36years. I have two grown children and 5 grandchildren. Love just about any craft that I can get my hands on. Right now I'm pretty busy taking care of my 87 year old mother. She lives on her own, about 1 block from me. But all her needs and appt.s are mine to help with. DD helps alot with taking some meals in. And I'd never make it without my DH. He does alot of the running for her. So this summer I've not worked much on crafts, but I will this winter. We live in a duplex in a 55+ community. We have plenty of space and not responsible for any maintence. I like that!!! And I love all my MJF friends that I have met here. Can't miss a day checking out how everyone is doing. Hugs, Brenda
