I don't know about what series this is but they are very good. I never heard of him before, but I know he wrote a lot of books.

Darlene,
I see them around at sales but have never read any of them yet.
What titles do you have?

Let me see I have quite a few now.
The ones I have are:
Tom Swift and his Jetmarine, and In the Caves of Nuclear Fire, and The visitor from Planet X, and Aquatomic Tracker, and His Polar-Ray Dynasphere, and His Subocean Geotron,

Aren't these some names,,,

The next group I haven't read yet are:
Tom Swift and His Outpost In Space, and His Atomic Earth Blaster, and His Space Solartron, and His Diving Seacopter, and In The Race to the Moon, and His Deep-Sea Hydrodome, and The Cosmic Astronauts, and His Flying Lab and a second His Outpost In Space, and and a real old one from 1916, called Tom Swift and His Big Tunnel, All by Victor Appleton II The oldest one is by Victor Appleton. So I guess his son must have taken over writing the books. Kind of like Carolyn Keen's daughter did for Nancy Drew. The names are funny but not surprising for that time.

Books are going to put me in the poor house. Earlier I was looking for pressure canner recipes in my Preserving Italy Cookbook when she mention the woman who turned her on to pressure canning. Cathy Barrow wrote Mrs. Wheelbarrow's Practical Pantry. Now with a title like that you know I just had to check it out on Amazon. She buys her veggies and fruits for preserving from farmer's market and grocery stores - that's what I do. In a couple of weeks I will be the proud owner of one library used book in very good condition. Now all I have to do is wait patiently. I'm excited about this book.

Well, yesterday I receive my copy of Mary Jane's latest book!

OMG, I absolutely love it! I love the lay out of the recipes and the pictures. IMHO, that's how a cookbook should look. I cannot wait to create some of the recipes.

Carole my MJF cookbook came a couple of days ago and it is a keeper. Been drooling over all the vintage cast iron. Makes me want to check out antique shops and flea markets.

A couple of weeks ago I received The Settlement Cookbook 1903. Love vintage cookbooks. Even a recipe to make baking powder. May have to try it just to say I did it even if only once.

I got my MJF Cast iron Cookbook yesterday. So what I have seen so far is great. I like it better than the Milk Cow Kitchen, that I gave to my DIL for Christmas. Have to make a few things out of it.

Today I got a new herb book. National Geographic Complete Guide to Herbs & Spices. I've thumbed through it and I know I will put it to good use. It's beautifully done.

A couple of weeks ago I received a notice from NG about their new herb & spice book. They were offering it for a little under $40. I wanted the book but not for that price. Found the same book on Amazon. New paperback for $7.98 & free shipping.

Finished reading Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone – by Brené Brown - I just love Brené.

I am presently reading High Performance Habits: How Extraordinary People Become That Way – by Brendon Burchard

In the cookbook department I bought the following:

Baking with Whole Grains: Recipes, Tips, and Tricks for Baking Cookies, Cakes, Scones, Pies, Pizza, Breads, and More! by Valerie Baer - I really like it. I've wanted to use more whole grain and she explains how to swap.

The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Come and Get It!: Simple, Scrumptious Recipes for Crazy Busy Lives by Ree Drummond - I have all of her cookbooks. Although they are not ones I go to often, I like all of her cookbooks. I'm sure I wont be disappointed. The pictures are nice!

Wow, I see that I haven't bought a homesteading book in a while. I need to get on that! lol

It is nice that you can get books and things on Amazon for affordable prices.
Books are really overpriced.
It is fun to shop on there sometimes.

For you gals that have it is MJ's cast iron book a spiral that will lay flat? I haven't seen any of Ree Drummond's books. I just happened upon her show a couple weeks ago.

Denise, Ree has quite a few cookbooks out. They are loaded with lots of pictures, which is nice.

I just bought the book Breaking Bread by Martin Phillip (Nov 2017). I took his Craftsy class and just loved him.

What a great book! I haven't tried any of the recipes but I've read through it all! I enjoyed reading his journey from NYC business man living in Manhattan to moving his family to Vermont and becoming a bread baker.

This morning I found a 1935 vintage cookbook at an antique shop. Wilken Family Home Cooking Album. It's full of pictures of the Wilken family who owned Wilken Family Whiskey in PA and Ma Wilken's recipes. My favorite picture is Ma & Pa Wilken feeding the chickens. There's nothing better than a vintage cookbook with pictures.

Received The Rose Rustlers by Greg Grant & William C. Welch last week and it's been my go to book ever since. I love this book. Beautiful pictures of old roses and stories about how they came to be saved. Good information on where to look for old roses; how to take cuttings and root; and culture and history of particular roses.

I have ordered "The Republic of Texas" yellow rose that can be grown in a container to be shipped later part of March. I ordered it from the Antique Rose Emporium which has been instrumental in saving old roses of Texas and offering them to the public.

I have the perfect place for the rose in the corner of the postage stamp size yard in front of my Yellow Rose Cottage. I would like to find and grow more old Texas yellow roses.

One thing I found out in the book is old roses often have more than one name so locating what you want takes a little detective work.

Bonnie, I don't post pictures so I will just have to write about it.

A little Texas history or maybe lore. The Yellow Rose of Texas is not really a rose. It's a young woman who the story goes kept Santa Anna busy in his tent when Sam Houston attacked him at the battle of San Jacinto River and Texas won it's independence from Mexico.

I am reading some very old Tom Swift books, 1917 and older, he is an inventor who goes everywhere and they are really well written on the subject the books are of, This one is where he took his friends in search of giants in deep South America, to catch some and bring back to work in a Circus, They are fun to read and well researched on the subjects written about.
The newer ones are written more about Space travel but just as well researched. Anyway the books are old and musty and someone was going to through them away but they were rescued by a friend of mine and she gave them to me. A very lucky find for me.
Sara your roses sound beautiful. They will look great in your yard.

I have never been bored reading on any of them with the Father writing or his son writing the books. The wrote them very well.
