Yesterday my voice started getting raspy, although me nose is clear. I took Nyquil last night, but i still sound like Billie Holliday. What a revolting development for a newspaper reporter!

You might want to visit your doctor Vanessa. The only hint I had for cancer was losing my normal voice.

Debbie, growing up with an Italian family was not easy. My parents had traditions that if we didn't follow them, we were out. Funny, now that they are both gone, I found myself sharing these traditions with my family. Something I always said I would never do. But, now that I'm in my 70's I do share these traditions with my family. Not all of their traditions. Realizing they weren't that bad. But, I'm a little more lenient then they were.

I've been hawking up a lot of phlegm, that's the problem. I'm not leading the songs at church tomorrow.

Necessity was the mother of invention for dinner last night. A few days earlier I'd made a batch of smoked brisket chili, but it only needed half a can of corn, kidney beans and black beans. So I grated some onion in it, doused it with Italian dressing and let it marinate. My husband is somewhat of a toddler when it comes to new foods. I told him it was cowboy caviar, sort of like 3 bean salad. He liked it, and ate it all.

Husbands can be like that. Mine will eat "new food" at restaurants but not at home. I love to use leftover veggies as salad.

Does anyone else have a memory problem? Last night I forgot the keys in the ignition when I rolled up the windows, set the seat back and gathered groceries. This morning the battery was drained so my husband drove me to work. Then when I need to go to the restroom, I lock the door and flip the "be back at" sign over, then forget to undo them. I am getting a little concerned.

If you are worried Vanessa, go talk to your doctor for peace of mind. The sooner you know the better. Hope all goes well with you.

I think for many of us memory gets worse the older we get. Most of the time it's little things, Forgetting why we walked into a room, or forgetting a name or word. Sometimes it's important things, like leaving the stove on or not remembering where you parked the car. I've done all of them. I'm having to train myself to be super mindful, not being in a hurry and to stop and think. You can ask the doctor for a test; I took one about 10 years ago and passed by one point. My mother had Alzheimers so it is a concern. DH is showing signs of dementia so I watch out for him too.

I live in the Upstate of SC, in the Foothills of the Blueridge mountain. My bear returned. Seeing a lot of wildlife activity this summer. I'm tired of the heat.

@Tara, that is so cool to have a bear visit you on a regular cycle. We have raccoons and opossums here in Florida.
@Vanessa, I'm 63, and my husband is 73, and he has more of a memory issue with things than I do. So, I'm forever helping him find things. LOL. My biggest thing was putting something on the stove and leaving the room and forgetting about it. So, a trick a friend gave me is to set the stove timer. When it beeps, I have to go turn it off, and then I remember that I was cooking. LOL. Ever since I started doing that, I find it very helpful to me.

Thank you for the hint, I will do that when I make tea. Maybe I'm just pulled in too many directions and need to slow down.

I am resting, sort of? I am waiting impatiently to see a specialist about shoulder and back spasms. I have fought the pain long enough( been over a year). Chiropractor adjustment have helped, but I am hurting more and rest not helping anymore. Grrr-being old stinks, my body just wont heal Garden is full of peppers and a few Autumn tomatoes. But not much else to do in garden. I will plant a few Autumn veggies. An Autumn/winter garden doesn't require back breaking work. Critters have eaten all the green beans=grrrr
Vanessa, never walk away from the stove when burner is on. And if you need to step away, turn off burner. Sometimes we got too much going on to remember.

Tara I Hope the doctor can help. The older we get the more aches and pains. It's like my sister said" Young people could never put up with all this". I'm recovering from surgery to repair a trigger thumb and 2 trigger fingers; the stitches come out this Thursday. Hurts like the devil but I'm looking forward to being able to use that hand again. I'm 84, DH is 77 and showing little signs of dementia. He likes to cook but has a habit of turning something on high then going outside so I have to keep a good eye on the stove. It's getting that I can't multitask anymore -- have to concentrate on one thing at a time.
