ooh stained concrete floors are nice...my sewing teacher and her husband did that in their house...way cool...they also came in and buffed the floor smooth, so it is very marble like...

Stephanie-
We have corrugated iron in the kitchen and on the ceilings upstairs. Economical as well as rustic!!Can't wait to see how your barn turns out. Autumn

Georgann...the sweat shops were close to Canal St. Canal St. is on the edge of Chinatown. It is the area where they sell all the designer purse knock-offs and you can get great buys on Pashminas (cashmere wraps) and other goodies. I am not into the designer purse scene....my tastes go to things that are a little less structured. But the sweat shop was something to see...long story....will tell you some time we have the time.

Jess I love your idea for floors of concrete with drains in the center and retractable hose. I always thought that it would be great to have each room be it's own self contained dishwasher type of structure, where you could just close the door, throw a switch and instantly it would be sparkling clean. My kids are grown but my dogs make enough mess to compete with your 7!!! Huge black hairy, drooly beasts....but I LOVE them!!

Jess........I'm going to pass on the 1889 Singer, so if you want it girl.........go for it. It is a beauty though, but a bit out of my budget right now!!
It does look like a left hander.........I thought the same thing. Odd huh?
Bev, I'd love to hear about your adventures in NYC!! Say I found a really nice small property near Punxatawney, PA. It has 2.6 acres, ranch with basement and in the Punxatawney school district. Has a piney grove and fruit trees and lots of garden space with a walkout cold storage canning basement. It is $116,000. I wish we were in move mode right now, but it'll probably be next year some time.
Gals, My son is moving back from Texas! We are actually happy about this, because he is coming back this time for the right reasons! He misses us and wants to be part of the girls's growing up!! He is getting his own place, just wants to be near family!!
Well, gotta run and finish up a few things.

What's this about a machine being left-handed?? I'm a leftie
Linda, That was me talking about adding color to concrete before pouring it
Georgann,
Love your avatar! Ooooh, and I'm sleeping better "through chemistry" now...After 4+ years of fighting insomnia I was just exhausted. The Melatonin depressed me really bad, the Valerian Root helped me sleep for longer periods but wouldn't get me to sleep....so Ambien CR has won on all accounts. Have had the best sleep in years the past 2 days. I'm still a night owl but that's by choice. At least now I know I can go to sleep when I'm ready to.
Carol Sue,
Do you feel like a guinea pig at this point...I hate that they can't pin down what ails you!
Jess,
Did you twinkle that nose and get that house cleaned today? Or did fabric shopping rule?!!
Bev,
Loved hearing about the "sweatshop"...would love to hear the whole story.
A big (((((hug))))) to everyone I know I didn't mention...I need a stenographer to take notes...LOL

Anyway...Elizabeth...got your "inner faith" and some other fabric you told me to pick up and it's companion...and something retro kitcheny and companion that some one else was looking for...who was it..i gotta unload the van so i can post names for everyone...but want to break it to him gently! Geez...what was I thinking!
oh...look here...thanks for your envelope Elizabeth...it must have come today! I wonder what is inside!
umm...gotta put the groceries away! It is pouring down rain...FINALLY!!!!!....I went to the grocery store without any pre-planning on my way home to make it look like I did something constructive..and the gosh darnned paper bag fell apart as I was loading it and milk went everywhere! And a bottle of gatorade went rolling down the parking lot like 200 yrds...it was hysterical!
okay I will shut up and get on with things!...jess |

Aunt George, Punxsutawney, that is home for us. Well my husband's family anyway. Would love to know where the place is your talking about. Punxsy is not that big really. I used to take my girls up there to see their great grandmother. my youngest dd was her favorite and she always spent a lot of time there with her.
Jess, More power to you. At 30 you have a long way to go. Fill up that house. Your kids will have such great memories of their siblings when they get older and I'm sure they will all be close. Friends of ours have 11 and no sets of twins. The oldest is 28 and will be getting married fall 2008. He is the only one that no longer lives at home. The family lives in a three bedroom house. they are all best friends with each other. Boy do they look out for one another too.

Oh, my gosh, Bonne........I'm taking a field trip to JoAnn's hopefully tomorrow!! I love the ladies fae fabric and the orange one with the flowers and swirls..........well, they are all great.
Carol Sue......I've missed some of the thread about your illness. I hope you are feeling better. Glad that things are negative, but that doesn't help when you are in pain! I know a thing or two about chronic pain....not fun that is for sure. Get some sleep and I agree with Bonne. Do some research about the FM!
Jess..........You bad, bad girl!! But a lot of it is going out, so that will help. I was going through my fabgrics and organizing them tonight. I found three zip lock bags of buttons and the thrift shop last week for $1 each. My daughter and I were going through them tonight and stringing the matching ones. There are quite a few of nice vintage ones and abalone ones too.
E...........How's the Renfaire sewing coming along.
Bev.........Any more harvesting andor guests this weekend?
I'm hoping to take a field trip up to G-Street fabrics sometime this fall. I can probably get my son to go with me and drive!! My brother and his wife lives near there too in the DC area.
Bev, perhaps we can make a meet-up near DC at the G-Street Fabrics. I think it is about 2 hours for both of us.
Stephanie..........try to get some sleep, and you too Nay-Nay, don't stay up to late gals!!
Oh, I have a whole basket of fabrics waiting for me to make aprons from it. Seperated out all of the great aprons cottons tonight. Nothing like the Freida fabric though.
Well off to bed. G

Georgann.... Well, renfaire was ok today.... we had a fairly long down pour. The new tent needs the seams sealed, but a pole tent feels so safe in the rain. I am used to an ez up which everyone grabs a leg and hangs on.... they blow away and twist like pretzels. It was even very windy, so we through up a side and had to hold it back.... but I can see how people lived in these. Money... well not too good because of the rain, and it looked like it was going to storm early. Tomorrow will be more of the same.... Uggggh!
But I have got to get the dress I am working on. I will probably never wear it to renfair because it is silk and velvet trimmed... and it is either dusty as hell or muddy there. I will post pictures and the paintings I took it from.

My Thomas is next to oldest of 8 children...One reason I think why he jumps in and washes dishes, clothes, vacuums, iron, etc....just anything that needs to be done he can and will do it without being asked
The man of my dreams...La La La..it's wonderful! LOL Of course, it took me 30 years to find him
