Hey Sharon.....I love the ruffle on that apron....great job....did you sandwich it between your layers????? Great apron!

Georgann....I like the reversible red one....is that a tea towell on the front of the red side? Kathie had made me an apron with a teatowel sewn onto it and I just love it....it is the one I wear the most, because that darned tea towell is so handy!!! I am a mess in the kitchen....good cook, but an awful messy one....my hubby calls himself my sous chef (cleans up after me!!

Carol Sue...love the pic of the girls in their little aprons....how sweet...what a good grandma you are!

Autumn...4 little girls sounds like a wonderful treat!! What fun you are going to have!

Bonne, you are in good company. I have no grandchildren yet, but am certainly old enough to. My kids just don't want to cooperate! Anyways...you look like a spring chicken!!!

Jess, I applaud the no TV thing (clap, clap, clap!!!) I was one of those mean moms who only allowed their kids to watch certain things....I think they were the only kids their age who never saw Bart Simpson...of course, they have made up for it since! Kids need to spend their time outside with their imaginations! PS...mail coming your way!

Linda....glad you have been inspired! Let me know when you are up for a trip down 81....if you want some ugly, organic apples for applesauce you better get your motor in gear!!

Naomi...how is the time change going....you know, a little earlier to bed each night until finally you are not sleeping half the day away!! Whatcha making now?

E....I got a pattern and fabric for my Ren Faire outfit....going to start it tomorrow....maybe tonight if I get time. I am nervous, I must add.
Oh yea.....mail coming your way!

Kathie...I, too, sometimes bite off more than I can chew!!! Somehow, tho, it all gets done!

Bev. I did sandwich the ruffle between the layers. It was easier than I thought. I did make one apron with the pre-made ruffle, but I like the look of the ruffle when it is sandwiched between the two layers.

But I plan to start tomorrow morning...to bed at usual time..up at hopefully 7:30ish...then I'll be tired enough to go to sleep at a decent time eh?:P haha

Jess, It was a great privilege for alot of us way back then...RITFLOL..to own a Boob Tube!! Lots of folks couldn't aford one. I don't ever remember not having one but know people my age that can remember going to the neighbors house to watch theirs

I know that myself and Bonne alike are old enough to be your mom so how old was your gramps when he died?? How old is your mom?

I do know there are still a few decent shows on tv for children but you'd have to put parental blocks on the tv to control what they watched so I guess it's simpler to just not have a tv..

Well I know I'm old enough to be Jess's mom! My oldest is 31~
It is hard to control tv-for the few things that might be worth the time to sit & watch.
I dont know how it would work in town but in the country - the kids really do get out and DO stuff-even if it is just gettin dirty.

Hey Autumn,

I think getting outside and getting dirty is much healthier for the mind I know the "community gardening" is becoming popular in the metro areas. The children that have no idea where their food is coming from are able to learn gardening. I think that is just so cool!! I think everyone should have the simple joy of harvesting their own foods.

Oh yeah, meant to tell you, we wound up with a day and a half of good rain from the remains of the hurricane last week..We really needed it!

Jess. When I was a young girl, I didn't watch much television. I was too busy climbing the cherry tree in our back yard, or playing with the neighborhood kids. It is great that your children have the opportunities that they have. I just turned 49.

It appears that alot of the ladies on this topic are very close in age. I will turn 50 next July 2

I was a mililtary brat growing up so their was lots of Base Housing (usually duplexes)..some of my fondest memories were of roller skating everywhere...

Melanie had her new song out about "brand new pair of roller skates". I wore my key around my neck for tightening my skates. I think I would have slept in them...LOL

Another fond memory..I didn't discover my rural curiosities until I was 30 years old but I sure played "catch up" in a hurry

Enjoy sharing the memories,

Stephanie

Wow, I'm 51! Of course we ARE baby boomers. Our parents were BUSY in the 50's!!! LOL

You'd think we'd all be a bunch of crabby old crones fussing from our mentalpause issues,
but truthfully, we all seem to be a jovial lot, don't you think? Or are we just delusional?

LOL!

I cannot seem to get them to copy....I am using McCalls #4090 for the skirt and #4107 for the top. Look them up at www.mccall.com. Got a fairly heavy woven fabric in a dark red for the skirt and a woven in a red and tan woven stripe for the vest(with peplum)...guess I will wear a peasant top underneath it all and a linen apron on top of the skirt.
