Elizabeth -- There is no 'saying' along the edge of the apron (is that what you were asking?) It's just fabric. The pocket is a vintage-look piece that I found at a thrift store, and the body of the apron is a print -- looks like olives or something. I love the dark color. Discovered that I don't have much fall-colored stuff in my stash. So does that mean I have to go buy more fabric??

Oh, and Elizabeth -- off topic -- are my soaps cured now? (Received from you several weeks ago in a barter.) Should I wrap them up in paper to preserve the fragrance? I was thinking of wrapping them in parchment paper and ribbons.

Bev -- I'm from Chicagoland, originally from Michigan. Been here on the forums, off and on, for a while. I get a kick out of this thread -- it's probably the longest one right now??

All of you gals are inspiring me to find time to sew. I did cut out a purse tonight -- Amy Butler pattern -- vintage and new fabrics -- will show and tell when it's done.

Peace out.

Katie, before you cut the fabric, there is info on who designed the fabric and what this print is called. Cuz I want to track some of it down. Yep, your soap was cured when I sent it. It just leeps better left out to the air. Parchment or tissue paper is fine to wrap it in. Just keep it dry and out of the sun. BTW, Buy more fabric.... Like you need to ask?

LOL... it is not fabric hoarding... it is a collection! Some peeps collect hummels or precious moments, I collect fabric, treadle sewing machines, Hopefully hand cranked ones since I got out bid by $2 because I was at the fair....

I even busted my but to Joanns after the show tonight to see what I needed.... well I needed 18 yrds of fabric to round out my collection. Fun stuff.... including some christmas fabric. Oh and most of it is fairly retro~!

Here's a purse I gave to my DIL for her birthday. I made it from a piece of 1950's Barkcloth.

Alright Naomi! Another funky artful apron!! Mine is almost finished. They just kind of evolve as I go...I hope to have my photo posted late tonight. Gotta go back to the Chiropractor at 4pm, the library and running around.

Now if I could just go to sleep! &^%$(&%#@! The Valerian Root makes me sleep good but it's getting to sleep that's whipping my butt!

LOL......ya'll are just so funny!! I love catching up too. And I am way behind.

Today the girls start back to school, and I have oodles and oodles of sewing to catch up on. So I may be doing what Nay is doing. Keeping the line open and popping in from time to time.

I am going to be adding to my stash again today!!!!!! This is fabric lady day at the Thrifty Quaker, and I'm not going to let that little old lady beat me to it today! LOL

Last week I scooped a huge armfull as she was walking through the door. My backside is big enough to blockade the fabric bin from interlopers too. LOL...........she followed me around the store after that in hopes that I would either drop something or put something back! LOL I'm not joking, she gave me the evil eye all the way through the store!! I also told the ladies that if they got in a treadle sewing machine to hold it for me, because they know I'll be back and they said that they would!! The fabric from last week is all safely washed folded and stashed now. I'll try to get pictures of last weeks haul!! It is gorgeous!!

Stephanie.....I LOVE the kitty and owl photo above!!! And that bag girl!!! To die for!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!

Jess.............Go girl. I swear you put the energizer in the bunny!!!

Nay.........I almost bought you a gorgeous ballroom dress pattern, but didn't know your size........what size are you and I'll grab you some ballroom patterns when they go on sale for .99!! I saw a vintage 50's reproduction yesterday that was fabulous!! Vogue was on sale for $3.99 each this past weekend. How is your mom doing today? I hope her little boy duck isn't too lonely!!

Bonne..........Let me know if your two packages get there today or tomorrow.

E..........did you get your package?

Alishushu.........email me!! I might could help depending on the timeline.

I'm setting up my sewing form today, and getting the girls ready for first day of school and hitting the thrifts with lots of donations and checking for fabrics and tea cups!! Later ya'll

Ok, now I don't feel so bad, cause during the week when I am not swamped with farm stuff, I check this forum every couple of hours.....last week kept it on my subscriptions, but dang it, Jess, the beeps made me crazy.......like I might miss something.....

Stephanie.....I know the other girls love that purse....but I think I love it even more........and the barkcloth is great...reminds me of my grandma...her curtains were always barkcloth. Hmmmmmm I might have to get me some of that...but where......????

E.....I know you will know where we can get some barkcloth....Ok, I will attempt a Ren Faire dress, E...but I will need some help for sure. Oh this will be fun!! But your comment about the French dress showing nipples, well then in that case the neckline must be somewhere around the waist????LOL

Georgan....you beat me online this morning.....but I WAS up at 5:30....have changed sheets, vacuumed and done a load of laundry so far. Yikes...I have to get the housework done so that I can sew!!!

Maybe a trip to Joann's later this afternoon. But first, waiting for the installer to come and slap up a new storm door.

Awww Gals, I'm off to work this morning

Naomi, Great apron you made Bonne, great modeling Bonne!

Katie, I love the fabric you used for that apron...adorable!

Ladies helping me with my apron...didn't get back to it this weekend...school shopping issues! But I did make it to Joann's and got some great buttons 1/2 off, 99 cent fat quarters, and some patterns.

Oh and Elizabeth, I love the pictures of the Renfaire...I'll have to make it to one someday!

Elizabeth -- Oh, duh! Of course, you were asking about the MAKER of the fabric. I knew that! And, oddly, the fabric doesn't have anything printed along the selvage. I found two pieces of this fabric at the thrift store -- one with the turquoise apples and one with red apples -- and neither one has anything printed along the edge. So it will forever remain a mystery, I suppose.

Stephanie -- LOVE the purse! Is it an Amy Butler pattern? Just reading in her book -- drooling over all the projects -- and she recommends dry cleaning barkcloth!?!? I don't like dry cleaning anything. Did you wash the fabric? (I'm thinking cold water.)

Naomi -- You are a gal of vim and vigor!

Aunt George -- I knew a woman who stopped a car in the alley with her backside. My butt's not what it used to be, but I'd love to help you block out the competition if fabric is involved.

No sewing for me today, alas. Putting in two perennial gardens and ordering bulbs for customers -- it's my job and sometimes I get tired of it, but it's GARDENING and I love it.

I may just get addicted to this thread!
