You need to have a cloak too! Those are easy to do , and do double
duty at Halloween. 2 rectangles (hood and main part). The main body part you pleat at the top and stitch to the hood. Do a button and loop closure~done

Bonne.........that sounds like a winner idea! What width of fabric do you use for your cloaks? What kind of fabric. How much length do you buy. Sounds like it could be made reversible easily enough too.

Hmmmm.................Need to try one.

Email Lisa(TribalCime) about cloaks. She's made probably 100's, when she
was vending on Ebay and at SCA & Pagan events. I've made them out of suedecloth, panne(only if you have a serger, otherwise a [bleep] to sew), corduroy, cotton broadcloth, you can use lacy fabrics, etc.
A must for ritual! I never lined mine (except for the hood)and did them in various lengths. I don't have the general measurements available right off as my ren garb is packed away, but I'm betting Lisa knows off the top of her head. Fun and easy to do for kids's cloaks.
Also, I've got several PDF files on my Spiritspace site for Ren Garb: (in the documents section)

Also I have to tell ya'll that I made the wrap around 1 yard apron yesterday. Since machine is at the Dr. I did it all by hand...still enjoyed it. I know ya want pics and I will work on it. Also I cut out a halloween one with same pattern! It will be lots of fun!
I'll be on the forum today..as usual...reading more than posting usually. :-)

Hey Naomi, I keep this thread open as well. Check far more often than I should. Since my machine is still in the shop, I can't sew.

Linda, that is amazing that you did the sewing all by hand. I had a co-worker once who didn't use sewing machines. She did all her mending and alterations by hand. Anything that had to be sewn was done by hand. My machine is at the doctor as well. I am going to see if m machine is all better, so that I can take it home where it belongs.

No room for a treadle. Would love one. Dh would have a fit if I did that. Some day I would like my mil's old machine. It isn't a treadle machine. Since my sewing room no longer exists due to college age son, I have no place for one. Sigh.....

Aunt George:I'll email you my size...And I did grab a couple Vogue patterns on Saturday...a vintage 50s hat pattern, as well as a really cute doll pattern...
Mom is doing fine, calling around right now trying to find another female Peking duck...cause poor Daffy is so mopey, he's fine when we are out there...but then as soon as we go in, he'll just stop what he is doing and go sit by the back door...whch results in a yucky mess to have to spray off the patio...haha...he is still lonely...poor thing....
Sharon: glad I'm not alone...haha

well...here we are chatting it up! I havent been here throughout last night and this morning...time with my husband..gotta keep him happy!

Bev..I found a really easy paatern that looks daunting at first, but it is really so easy...starting it this morning...simplicity 9891..not quite as elaborate as some elizabeth posted...but just afew pieces that go together easy. And as for cloak...I have made several in kid sizes...my oldest and the second one...they have solstice celebrations around the fire. It is not dificult...basically cut out 2 equilateral triangles with rounded corners and kind of bowed out sides. cut one in 1/2 up the middle...sew the 3 pieces together at the top so they for a neckline...use 2 rectangle for the hood..sew them together on one short side and the perpendicular long side and then sew it into thte neck line. then, figutre out to line or not to line and finish off all edges! clear as mud, right? okay chores...sew...pics of last nights work and sew some more! cannot hang out, must make house look livable!

Naomi, I can't do laundry, but that doesn't mean that I have loads to do. Our machines are in our garage and dh is cleaning the garage. Dh can't complain about me not doing laundry as he has both the washer and dryer blocked right now with things. I will enjoy for now, but regret it later, as the laundry pile continues to grow larger. There is a lot of laundry with two grown boys, dh, and myself.

Naomi, I joke about the laundry pile, because as soon as I am all caught up, I am not caught up, because there is another large pile that has replaced the previous pile.

ok caught up and off to the laundry room..oh what fun! Not!

oh and i hope no one finds this offensive, but my husband always makes up ridiculous jingles when he is getting tired..it is usually how we know it is bed time...he gets in this certain
mood! anyway last night he emailed me this one while he was in his ofice finishing up around midnight....sung to the tune of Dreidel Dreidel dreidel...

treadle treadle treadle. I bought in on eBay, and when I use my treadle, my misery goes away

anyway, this is his new theme song fo rme as I have found treadling so relaxing!

OK, all my plans flew out the window today. This started making itself and just won't stop!!

It is going to be laced down the front of the bodice and open down the skirt front.

It'll be worn over a long chemise of gold or a bold sapphire or even a simple muslin!! Don't know what came over me today. I guess it is all of the Renwear talk. I know this is not Renwearm, but rather funwear!!
